“Harry is the best striker in the world” Support comes in for underfire England captain

By Bruce Grove -

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has defended Harry Kane as the England captain continues to struggle at Euro 2020 and he said the Tottenham man is the best striker in the world.

Harry Kane hasn’t scored a goal or provided an assist in the Euro’s despite hitting solid form during the Premier League season.

He scored the most goals in the 2020/2021 season and had been looking to take that form to the Euros.

He won the Golden Boot at his last major international tournament (2018 World Cup), and fans had hoped that he would fire England to Euro 2020 glory as they look to win it on home soil.

The striker has fired blanks in England’s opening two games against Croatia and Scotland so far.

Questions have been raised about his form and if he is distracted by the speculation surrounding his future.

Shaw insists that there is nothing to worry about because they trust their captain’s ability and he brands Kane the best striker in the world.

“There is no concern at all,” Shaw said via Mirror Football.

“For me, Harry is the best striker in the world. He is a very important part of this team. In fact, almost the most important part of the team.

“Whether he has been at his best or not, he is a crucial player for us.

“If his performances aren’t as people expected, this happens in tournament football and you can score a goal at any moment. He is such a crucial player on and off the pitch. He has all our backing and I’m not worried at all.”

A creative midfielder is always a good player to have too, don’t you think. Grealish maybe? I do not know where the point of attack starts. Passing it around and hope something happens is not going to cut it. Mason Mount and Foden are young and energetic, that is totally different from having a play maker from the jump. Knowing where the ball is going to and where it should go. I do not see such player on England team of course outside of Grealish who is on the bench. Grealish is a player that inspite not a senior member commands the game, give me the ball so I can make something happen. He should start.

As a striker its a great help if you have team mates that can pass you the ball.
