Goal-line Clearance Which Denied Spurs Win Over Watford By Inches [Video]

By Joe Fish -

Is it often said that football is a game of fine margins.

And Tottenham learned that the hard way at Watford this afternoon, as a late goalmouth scramble resulted in this clearance from Ignacio Pussetto – on debut for the Hornets – denying us a late victory by a matter of inches.

At least we can trust the goal-line technology to deliver the correct verdict. If VAR had done its job, the margins today may not have been so fine.

Spurs were denied a blatant penalty for handball and a possible red card on Etienne Capoue, as Paulo Gazzaniga saved a spot kick in a 0-0 draw.

Any idea of Euro football is fanciful. We can’t beat bottom teams and the side has no balance.

Gedson looks promising.

Dreadful watching. Never been a Mourinho fan, but willing to give him a chance. Considering what he has to work with, it’s not awful, but it’s not great. Everything is too frantic, no understanding between the players.

Once again, window half gone, and we’ve solved none of the gaping holes in the squad. How can this bald loser pay himself top wages in the league, while failing to do the basic elements of his #@%$ing job. We need a DM, RB, LB, CB. Now. A year ago, actually. And the property developer loser midget fails, again and again and again. Is anyone surprised that the follically challenged dwarf who’s never won anything in his life and hasn’t the first clue about football, has yet again let this club down? I didn’t think so. Levy out. Time for this dimwitted embezzler to eff off.

Has Jose inspired anything above where they were before he came in? Not that I can see.

Or at the very least instill them with some energy, purpose, belief and determination. Look at the effect Watford’s new coach has had there.

Jose doesn’t really have patterns of play. It’s the same as AVB, two coaches who also have never played at any level themselves, incidentally.

It’s all about positioning and setting up to be hard to break down and everything happening when the opponent loses the ball. I’m not a fan of it myself.

Who doesn’t prefer the high tempo attacking of coaches like Pep, Klopp and Poch?

I also if you’re going to be unable to win, at least be good to watch and get on the front foot. It isn’t hard is it? Not the Spurs way either…

Is this why Maureen thinks we deserved to win it?

Watford defender’s arm also hits the ball and could have been a penalty if VAR had looked at it.

Painfully close…. But painful is the word I would use to describe the entire spurs performance today. That did not look like a proud side out there determined to retain their hard-won top 4 status. Instead they just seemed to be dutifully going through the motions of another game. No discernable strategy or pattern to the play, just improvised, flying by the seat of the pants stuff, lacking in conviction and painfully laboured. Reminded me of Tim Sherwood Spurs.
Only bright spot was Gedson who showed he can at least pass the ball accurately and with pace.
