Mauricio Pochettino appeared on our screens for the first time in a long time last night on Sky Sports’ Monday Night football. It was a very mixed reaction from fans online, with some clearly still infatuated with the Argentine, and others less impressed. The former Spurs gaffer has been linked with a far few sides during his year out of work, but as yet, he and his coaching team have yet to find the right club.
Personally I cannot wait to see Poch back in a Premier League hot seat, if only to prove suspicions I hold about the man and his nerve. He left Tottenham emotionally beaten up and by the back door, and so hopefully this time away from the game has allowed to lick his wounds, find some peace.
As a TV pundit, Poch is perhaps unlikely to go down in history as one of the greats. Hopefully Manchester United can keep losing, and we’ll be too many more of the 48-year-old’s spared the verbal cul-de-sacs…

We’ll see how he does…
All the pundit asked was are you ready to go again? Botch with his dyed long hair (he developed a fair bit of grey hair with us) then bangs on about stress, stress and stress. And something about stress and his hair! …. He’s got how many millions in the bank. And banging on about stress after a year out. My goodness gracious me. Great coach, but poor manager. Glad the bumbling has long gone.
He’s magic with his wand holding together with sticky tape, and his one trick he thinks he mastered.. I didn’t want to see him manage another prem club when he was sacked over a year ago… Now I wish anyone would hurry up and give the man a job!
This was his greatest moment.. Getting to the final against all odds.. You are supposed to celebrate like that when you actually win something though… Ajax were the better team that game… Moura was the hero… Truth is that Harry Kane is a main reason why Botch did well.. But in his 6 years Leicester won the league and the gooners won the fa cup four times.. We got consecutive top fours.
I agree with all that bar the ‘deserved’ remark, Mr Dill. Trophies aren’t handed to the deserving, they’re won by those with the grit for the final push, which sadly for us Podge & the boys were just a tad lacking. A 5 year monumental effort given our Chairman’s net spend and pay ceiling record; I don’t like seeing Podge’s magnificent attempt talked of disparagingly, I believe he did all he could under the circumstances. And I hadn’t been through such an exciting time watching my beloved Spuds for a very very long time. My memories cabinet is fuller with Podge created gems than from most of the many managers who came before, including a couple who achieved minor trophy success; but maybe I’m weird, perhaps only silverware matters and the quality of the football is an irrelevance.
He’s magic you know…
Irrespective of his punditry that special Ajax moment after the win when Poch fell to the ground kissing the turf in tears expressing his happiness of victory is firmly entrenched in Spurs folklore! Labelled the nearly manager, humble gentleman, who well exceeded expectations at the club fully deserved a trophy!
Taken Leeds Utd to the cleaners the Foxes have moved up to 2nd!
