Gazzaniga’s Transfer Tip For José is… Jorman Campuzano

By Ron Carne -

Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has revealed the player he would advise Jose Mourinho to sign in Argentina.

The 28-year-old has played a key role for Spurs this season having made 25 appearances across all competitions as he was forced to step in following the injury sustained by Hugo Lloris last year.

Now, he’s been asked if his scouting skills are up to scratch as he was questioned on which player in Argentina he would suggest to Mourinho to strengthen the Spurs squad.

The 23-year-old currently plies his trade in Argentina for Boca Juniors, having made 15 appearances so far this season in his preferred defensive midfield role.

“If Mourinho asks me for a reinforcement of Argentine soccer, I tell him to bring Jorman Campuzano,” he told TYC Sports, as re-reported by the Express.

After green-lighting Victor Wanyama’s exit and with Moussa Sissoko struggling with an injury this season while Spurs have an option to sign loanee Gedson Fernandes outright, it’s an area of the Tottenham squad which perhaps could require reinforcements ahead of next season.

Mourinho still has the likes of Harry Winks, Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombele and Oliver Skipp among others at his disposal to deploy in midfield, but it remains to be seen if Gazzaniga’s recommendation is followed up by the club this summer.

The Spurs boss has already emphasised his desire to have a more balanced squad next season, as per BBC Sport, and Gazzaniga may be well placed to identify where Tottenham are perhaps in need of fresh faces.

Him and Foyth’s pick are as bad as each other. The near penalty at 2.07min says it all.
