Tottenham Hotspur is seeing a lot of criticism following their 5th Round FA Cup to Middlesbrough. The north London club has seen their performance be called pathetic by pundits others have targeted specific players like Harry Kane.
Nonetheless, not everything coming out of the months from English football pundits is negative or toxic. During a segment on the BBC (via Mirror), Gary Lineker stated that he was impressed by full-back Ryan Sessegnon.
The 21-year-old was the brightest spark on the pitch for Spurs this past Wednesday. Furthermore, Lineker stated that Sessegnon is one of the ‘most exciting’ youngsters in English football.
“Sessegnon vs. Jones, probably two of the most exciting full-backs in our game,” Lineker said. “It’s five games consecutive that he [Sessegnon] has played. It’s good that he is getting a run in the side. Conte obviously has faith in him.”
Sessegnon has found consistent playing time under manager Antonio Conte. Last weekend against Leeds United, the young defender played 78 minutes, registering one assist and providing two key passes.
Tottenham hopes that Sessegnon can find that form that has made him one of the better young players during his time with Fulham.
Generally scared with the ball at his feet…could do with a loan to an Italian or Spanish club
Kaiser sose 🤔😉
Lineker may be right, but for me, if he is, Sessegnon is also a master of disguise.
The odious little prick has managed to get off Scott-free despite being the Harvey Weinstein of the football world. Allegedly.
I think that’s exactly why he has a future here.
Essentially, this is not a club to be with if you want to develop your talents and improve your confidence.
He `broke into the ‘Boro box and had a shooting chance after about 15 minutes. He tried to find Kane with a difficult pass. Conte has to get the message out to his squad that Kane is not the only Spurs player allowed to score.
If Sessegnon did shoot he could have scored or if the keeper spilled the save Kane was on the spot to follow up.
He’s not very bright is he
He’s talented, but I agree he lacks grit. If he bulks up a bit and aims to dominate his opponents more, I think he has a chance. But I won’t hold my breath
The king of the virtue signal
He suits the Spurs DNA perfectly. The odd good game but generally underperforms with no heart or mental toughness.
Hugely disappointing player lacking determination, passion, desire and a pair, apart from that he has a fine future here.
Still not sure about Sessegnon.
Not a brilliant defender and not a brilliant attacker
Or being achingly p c
Gary… stick to selling crisps and taking in refugees. Footballs not your game anymore
