Tottenham have been linked with a move for both Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr and former Spurs forward Darren Bent has given his opinion over which one should be signed.
Both wingers are expected to be on the move in this transfer window. Zaha has told Crystal Palace that he wants to join another top team (Mail).
Sarr has just been relegated from the Premier League with Watford, and the Hornets will likely have to sell him.
Zaha has been a Premier League regular for a long time now and although this was one of his least productive seasons, he still managed four goals and three assists in the just-concluded Premier League campaign.
Sarr, on the other hand, struggled with injury in his first campaign in the English top-flight, but he still managed five goals and four assists in 28 league games.
Bent has had a look at both players and he believes that it will be better for the likes of Tottenham to make a move for Zaha if they are looking at signing either player.
“I’d rather go with Zaha, just because you know what you’re going to get from him,” he told talkSPORT.
“I think he’s been more established in the Premier League, he understands the league and we’ve seen him perform very well.
“I like Sarr as well, I think he’s been brilliant for Watford, but he’s been a little bit inconsistent because he’s still young.
“His pace gets him out of a lot of trouble but he’s a little bit inconsistent in front of goal, he’s missed some big chances.
“So, right now, I’d probably give Sarr another year or so and right now I’d go for Zaha first over Sarr.”
I actually liked Benty as a player (more than Harry anyway) but please just shut up now on Spurs.
Not a priority in this window, no to Zaha, he’s the type of player Everton sign, a big noise at a small club and for a thumping fee and it turns out disastrously so I’d stay well clear of him. Poor resale value at the end of his contract, Levy won’t pay over the odds. Palace missed the boat looking for £70 million, good luck getting half that. Somebody online, an ex Spurs scout called Webb is quoted as saying Spurs made a speculative bid for Zaha of £13-15 million when Palace were looking for seventy. You gotta love the brass neck of it.
We don’t need direct competition for Son at the moment, so Zaha will need to find a different club than ours. As for Sarr, I like him a lot. He is so quick and that is so important, but we have Moura and Bergwijn on the right. Could he play as a striker, back up to Kane? Henry converted from wide to central and when Kane gets injured it would be a better option than Moura.
