Former Tottenham ace hails Spurs duo as the best partnership in the world

By Bruce Grove -

Having scored 91 Premier League goals across two spells for Tottenham, Jermaine Defoe has earned the right to talk about goalscorers.

The former Premier League striker claims that Tottenham duo, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min is the best goalscoring partnership in the world right now, after their blistering start to the Premier League season.

Son and Kane have scored 16 league goals and provided 11 assists in the league alone this season, and it is just 10 games into the new campaign.

They have been identified as the players who could eventually lead Spurs to the Premier League title and Defoe believes that their level of consistency has been unbelievable.

He says staying consistent is the hardest thing to do in football, and the two have managed to maintain their level of performance.

He praised Son for being very dynamic and compared them to the attacking trio of Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto’o and Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

Speaking exclusively to Reece Mennie on Mennie Talks, he said: ‘Those two are the best partnership in world football at the minute.

‘The hardest thing that you can do at the top level is to be consistent, so for those two to show that consistency, for me is unbelievable.

‘Son is dynamic, so he runs in behind. He gets the ball and he is direct, he beats people. It’s what (Pep) Guardiola did at Barcelona, he played with the false nine with Messi, with Henry on the left and Eto’o on the right.”
