Former Spurs star thinks Alli will get more chances before the next transfer window

By Bruce Grove -

Former Tottenham goalkeeper, Paul Robinson reckons that Dele Alli will get more chances to play for the club before the January transfer window.

Alli has been struggling to play for the club this campaign after a very poor start to the season.

Mourinho trusted him to start the club’s first game of the season, but he was ineffective in the 1-0 loss to Everton and he was removed at half time.

There have been two more instances that he has been hauled off at half time and he hasn’t started several games for the club.

For a player of his calibre, it has been a serious fall from grace and he now risks becoming yet another player who has wasted their talent.

Ahead of the January transfer window as well as the Euros at the end of this season, Robinson is confident that Alli will be given the chance to play for the club again and he admitted that staying on the bench is simply not good enough for the attacker’s career.

“Alli will be given more chances because the window is not open until January,” he told Football Insider. “He has two months.

“It is hard to see where he fits in though. His lack of game time definitely does not bode well for him.

“Whether it is his attitude and application in training, the way he plays or maybe it is simply because they have an abundance of attacking talent.

“Not being picked for the Premier League squad and then being taken off at half time in the Europa League does not bode well. It does not bode well if you are Dele Alli or if you are playing in the fourth tier of English football.

“If he wants to get to the European Championships next summer he needs to have an honest and frank conversation with Jose Mourinho after Christmas.”
