Former Premier League ace reckons Kane isn’t considered world-class because he is English

By Bruce Grove -

Harry Kane has been robbed of the “World Class” tag because he is English, Watford striker and one time Tottenham target Troy Deeney claims.

The Tottenham striker remains one of the best strikers in the world. He won the Golden Boot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup to show everyone what he is about.

Yet when the names of the best strikers in the world are being called, Kane is hardly mentioned before the likes of Robert Lewandoski and Karim Benzema, and Deeney thinks that is the case because he isn’t a foreign striker.

The 32-year-old hit-man claims that when the debate for strikers that are world-class is being held, if you aren’t foreign, you do not get mentioned and that is the case with Kane.

‘That world-class debate is interesting because unless your name is foreign, you don’t ever get put in that category as world-class,’ Deeney told Talksport.

When Kane’s name is suggested, Deeney argued: ‘But then people go: “Lewandowski, Benzema” – they always put people above him. His goal record is ridiculous.’

Kane has remained one of the most reliable goal-getters in the game, but the striker lacks trophies.

That might be just another reason why he isn’t considered World Class just yet. It would be a wrong conclusion but it may be a reason.
