One couldn’t invent the Spurs Supporters’ Trust. A self – elected fringe group numbering just over 20,000 members have gone all-in with ENIC and after their challenged for the club’s board to resign, have now hatched a scheme which, quite remarkably, is even more implausible.
In a nutshell, this ‘Trust’ wishes to formally infiltrate ENIC’s management of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and so foist 3 random fans upon the club’s Board.
Furthermore, the other half of their plan is to invent a second, ‘Supervisory’ Board to operate in tandem with the original Board – containing the 3 aforementioned random fans.
My fill take is on this video above, but for the record, this ‘Trust’ has evidently lost the actual trust of many fans after unveiling this frankly bizarre master plan.
ENIC are far from perfect owners. Indeed, few investors in this industry are viewed in such high regard, However, the idea that one can knock upon the door of a private business and suddenly appropriate power and influence is – ambitious! And that’s the polite version.
No harm just no chance. ENIC are corporate vultures and all such do not like anyone else sharing the corpse.
Well perhaps its cheeky of them, but are you against fan participation (which would be in to a very small extent anyway) in the running of a football club? Personally I cannot see the harm.
The Levy/ENIC mantra of the last 22 years just no longer washes with the club’s support. ‘Building for the future’ means absolutely nothing after over two decades.
We’ve seen good (potentially great) Spurs sides, ready to make the next step sold off countless times under this lot. When we won the League Cup 13 years ago Levy could not wait to cash in on Keane and Berbatov. Many of the fans went on about a bright new future under Ramos and that the League Cup was a great starting point. It wasn’t, it was the pinnacle of our achievements in terms of trophies under ENIC!
The League Cup is the biggest trophy the fans of the 8th richest club in the world can expect? Once in over 20 years?
The situation is absolutely disgraceful and Levy should do the honourable thing and step down. He might think he can continue to patronise the fans with his endless nonsense about him actually being a benevolent presence. As if if he hadn’t been around we’d have obviously ‘done a Leeds, we most certainly would have ceased to exist as a club.
Well Daniel, the two English teams that played out the all English Champions League final this year were at one point a Rizla paper away from administration. That’s of course until some nasty oil barons rocked up, paid off their debts and turned both of these clubs into serial winners! Yet you want to pay off this debt over yer another 20 year slog for the supporters.
Sorry, Joe’s wealth is close to 7bn, yet we have a wage bill 60 odd million less per season than Arsenal have? Stop pleading poverty, you are just using other people’s money because it’s what you do. Nobody cares about your own aspirations and ENICS own selfish aims as a company. We support a football club, not your venture capital group. Why do you fail to credit the support with being able to see straight through all this fanny you come out with?
Nobody cares about your business model, nobody cares about FFP (then you try to join the Super League ffs!), nobody cares about the concept of revenue streams from the stadium. Nobody cares about a state of the art training ground.
You know why? Because the only thing any sane person that supports a football club cares about is football, it’s sort of written on the tin, Daniel.
Please leave the building, thanks for the memories and that League Cup 13 years ago. You’ve been around Spurs far too long, you know it too I suspect…
Fan power.. Maybe if this group comes up with 3 billion odd pounds then Baldy would entertain them. Until then they are just making fools of themselves.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a record, a season ticket or a Ferrari. You’re still only a customer with no tangible justification to shoehorn yourself into the boardroom of who you bought it from.
Levy will probably use that as an excuse to pay off the loan instead, all part of his devious masterplan. Which will unravel when we get relegated next season.
Well you’d have to buy a hell of a lot of records to match the money spent by season ticket holders…
I don’t thing H likes the THST !!
I think this blog ought to have a representative on the board too.
It’s a ridiculous sense of entitlement, like demanding a seat in the boardroom of the record company of your favourite band.
Yes, a polite pat on the head…
Sounds good to the disheartened. Your interest into the well-being of the club you support gives you no right to feel empowered to inject yourself into the affairs of the board room. Your franchise is to withdraw your support or voice your opinion. It takes more than just being disgruntled to topple a massive organization like this. Proving arm/hurt to you by the club’s action is not small feat. By the way the once it goes to court, they will all be doing Go Fund Me accounts. What happen to the rest of us who do not want more Loonie tunes having a say at our club.
deluded away watch magic roundabout
The best position with “influence” they could realistically hope for is a seat on an extended leadership or steering/focus group where every suggestion they submit is “noted, with thanks”
Your assumption is all 20,000 were asked, though some tweets I saw this wasn’t the case.
Controlled opposition, I d be surprised if one of any number of em aren’t colluding with ENiC/Levy/Lewis themselves. A scarecrow operation.
Who’s advising the THST?
Surely out of 20,000 members, at least some of them would have voiced concerns about what they were doing.
They couldn’t all be lemmings, could they?
With the amount of traffic on the blog, we could have a post your ideas, then a little vote on the best. Even put a recommendation or to a person to go on the board (some commenters/posters on here would be fun to see with levy, even with the NDA🤣 who would you choose?).
This would still be more legitimate than the tripe the THST are putting up.
No, more like folded like an unwieldy deck chair.
And no time left to spend the Harry money. Oh dear how sad.
Agreed, it’s all too predictable. On another note, football wasn’t worth watching last season without fans – how much better is it with actual people there & not cutouts?
The THST are so stupid they’d climb a glass wall to see what was on the other side.
I thought the Comedy Club was currently closed, apparently not. These people have far too much time on their hands & have lost all sense of reality. Are they organising the protests at the NFL game? Surely not.
It’s a fun soap opera to watch. Just need a few bodies to pile up now.
I have decided that this season that we will not bother with a manger.we will retain 11 players and a few spares.
If we don’t make top 4 you can sack the manager.
Yep, Berbatov all over again. 11.55 deadline day with a 20 year old off Citeh’s bench coming down the M6 on loan… F*cking joke house, that’s what this is!
I’m going all out and saying it a 4th time…..we will start the season with the same squad including Kane, be it he may be on the bench waiting for his move……
