Brazilian club Fluminense are reportedly targeting Tottenham forward Richarlison as their top priority for the upcoming transfer window, according to Globo Esporte.

The report claims that the South American giants have initiated preliminary contact with the 27-year-old in a bid to bring him back to his homeland.

While specific financial details remain undisclosed, Fluminense are reportedly “willing to invest significantly” to secure Richarlison’s services. This move underlines their ambition to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt has also previously expressed admiration for Richarlison, emphasising the club’s willingness to facilitate a return for the striker.

Richarlison has been a disappointing signing for Tottenham

Richarlison’s time at Tottenham has been challenging, with injuries and inconsistent form hindering his impact since his arrival from Everton.

Under manager Ange Postecoglou, the Brazilian has made just seven appearances this season, racking one goal and one assist in 173 minutes across all competitions. A hamstring injury sustained in November has further sidelined him, forcing him to miss 17 matches this campaign already.

Fluminense are not the only club monitoring the striker’s situation. Saudi Pro League teams have previously expressed interest in him in the summer, while reputable journalist Ben Jacobs recently highlighted Newcastle United’s admiration for the “unstoppable” striker.

Richarlison’s Premier League pedigree, demonstrated during his Everton stint with 53 goals and 13 assists in 152 appearances, has ensured he remains a sought-after talent despite his Tottenham struggles.

His potential return to Brazil would mark a significant moment for Fluminense, whose supporters are eager for a reunion with their former star.

That said, it is unlikely that Spurs will sell him mid-season, especially given their current injury crisis that has left their squad depleted.

It is also unlikely that Richarlison will move back to Brazil at this stage of his career. Despite the injury struggles, he is still at his peak age and can play for a top club for several years before considering a fairytale return with childhood club.
