‘Final details’ Fabrizio confirms Spurs tying up a loan deal

By Eddie Razo -

The backline is a priority for Tottenham Hotspur as they look to find a third member to go along with Cristian Romero and Eric Dier for manager Antonio Conte’s three-at-the-back system.

Spurs have been linked to various players this summer that would fill the need, and one of them is FC Barcelona’s Clément Lenglet. According to transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League side is on the verge of bringing the France international to north London.

Romano adds that the Spanish club and Tottenham are working on the “final details” regarding a loan deal for Lenglet. The player is waiting for negotiations to be completed very soon as the two parties discuss the salary situation.

It will be interesting to see whether Lenglet is brought in to be the starter for Conte or depth reasons, considering Davinson Sanchez has seen his name in the rumour mill regarding a possible departure this summer.

Last season, the 27-year-old made 27 appearances for the La Liga side, but he isn’t a player that manager Xavi Hernandez will be counting on for next season.

Bentencur had over 150 games for Juve ,being in the starting 11 winning cups and titles. Bentencur was a starter and even before he joined Spurs was playing alot of games for Juve. Kulu was young and starting for Juve but the new manager never rate him and let’s be honest Allegri messed up alot of other players as well.im not writing off this defender as I do not know much about him,but the times I did manage to bother watching a Barca game and he played,he was ripped apart but he wasnt solely to blame I admit that. On the other hand ,the french national coach called him world class .

Its funny how Bentencur & Kulu were not doing much for another manager & how Lukaku looked like a world beater under a different manager at Inter.

Jay my friend. No one is coming. Take the players you can and build a team. When you win then you got the pick of the litter. Not that you need my advice.

Where was Kulu on the right attacking wingers list?
He’s outdone Diaz [everyone loves to talk about] for goals & assists.

Conte is not stupid, he knows exactly what we need & what he needs.

We have all got excited by CB names mentioned in the past few months until we come to this guy.
Just not sure personally that he is destined for PL success and before someone pipes in with “In Antonio we trust” dont forget how far down the list this bloke must be.

I read it’s just a 1 yr loan with no obligation to buy.

Romagnoli’s contract expires today. I’d much rather get him and then get Bremer before it’s too late. Lenglet is hardly an upgrade on Davies

100%, these are the players who want to play for us – Bastoni, Martinez, Sterling, etc – these are ‘maybe next time’ type, could change if we have a great season

I do see the comments recently about we can do better especially around Richarlison.
But can we?
The club are aware that certain players won’t come to Tottenham.
Some fans have got caught up with the stadium, training yawn etc etc.
In reality whilst some players tow the corporate line about these thing, players if they are in that 50 to 60 mill bracket will want something else and thats winning.
You can see the conversation with the players,,

Carlos Kickball; So what have you won
Paratici; Well in the last 20 years we one a domestic cup
Carlos Kickball; Ah okay the FA Cup is world famous the biggest domestic cup isn’t it.
Paratici; No not that one
Carlos Kickball: Oh you’ve a second one
Paratici; Yeah, lots of clubs don’t take it too seriously to be fair, but we did beat Ajax in a semi final in 2019. But don’t forget about the not so new stadium, yes its shiny…

You can see where this goes,

At the moment it might be the best we can buy, who we are in for.

Apparently he was considered a picture of composure and serenity and a great player…until his confidence got totally knocked out of him after some humbling defeats at Barca.

Seems it’ll be a hopeful redemption arc story…or mentally he’s gone, it he can’t cope with the PL. Central defenders from outside the PL are often risky signing…this minimises risk at least. He has some pedigree, could rediscover his mojo.

I hope we get Bremer but then I hate to say with Lenglet, Richarlison and Spence we have six signings and we have covered every ‘weak spot’ (still lacking creativity but not sure Conte sees that too much or worries, probably thinks when we’re ticking we’ll create enough with what we’ve got).

I still have a feeling if we shift some deadwood Levy might not be able to resist a deadline’r. Might be a sneaky bargain out there and we still have a bit of cash I’d imagine. Maybe, maybe not.

Is this bloke any good? All the other names being banded around for LCB seem to be so much better!!

I know it’s a loan, but unless he makes the team stronger, to me it seems pointless

Imagine he’s a stopgap until we go again for Bastoni next time (dependent on Conte still being here etc etc). Be intrigued if there’s an obligation to buy.

My ideal now would be get Bremer, shift Sanchez, loan Rodon. Keep Tangy in the squad as homegrown. Central defence done.

Don’t see why this would stop us shifting either Sanchez or Rodon (or both) and pursuing another CB (ideally Bremer)

Not overly impressed with this deal.He played in a Barca side whose defensive strategy was to score more goals than the opposition. He’s in for a rude awakening when he plays in the PL.If Davies is to be replaced then Lenglet is not that man.It looks like his place is pretty safe.

So a loan deal which means the 150M warchest is safely gathering interest in the bank.We shouls be after Bremer.

Trust in Conte. This is a great backup for BD and he will, as all players do, improve under Conte’s team of coaches. We are getting a very strong squad together indeed at the moment. You lot whinge when we don’t spend and whinge when we do COYS

* Davis.. Damnit I’m fuming at this deal… I bet we’ve got him on a MUST buy clause too. I am so tempted to throw my season ticket back because of this!!!

Ben David will be pleased though because he’s NEVER going to lose his place whilst this plank is here.

I have been against it every single time this bloke’s name is mentioned.. Not a ingle supporter I’ve spoken to wants this.. and if he lets us down which I am 99% sure of we’ll be screaming from the terraces to sling his ‘ook!

I hate that we’ve wasted ANY money on this deal. We could end up losing Rodon because of it, AND just imagine the games we’re going to lose because of him… This is SUCH a ridiculous move. I think whoever sanctioned it must of recently received a bang on the noggin.
