“Not an option” – Feyenoord man confirms he has turned down an approach from Tottenham; commits himself to the Dutch club

Tottenham’s managerial search is still ongoing despite earlier reports claiming Arne Slot’s imminent appointment.

The Dutch manager is reportedly close to being appointed the new manager. However, Italian journalist Rudy Galetti’s latest update is contradicting, who claims that the likes of Ruben Amorim and Luciano Spalletti are ‘fully in the race’ for the vacant job.

Since the departure of Fabio Paratici, Tottenham have also been without a sporting director, leaving a significant void in their organisational structure.

And multiple journalists, including Dean Jones has claimed that Spurs will want to appoint a sporting director before they appoint a new manager.

They have been linked with a number of candidates for the job including Brentford’s Lee Dykes and Wolves’ Matt Hobbs.

It has now been reported by The Guardian that Spurs had also made a move for Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese for the sporting director role.

However, the report claims that Te Kloese has said on record in the Netherlands that he has turned down an approach from the North London club.

He said (quotes via Guardian):

“I said ‘no’ and I also don’t have any interest.”

“We have made really good steps and then to say: ‘Let’s hear what I can do for other clubs’ is not an option for me.”

It remains uncertain whether Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy made an official offer to te Kloese, but the club’s reported interest in him is not surprising, given their pursuit of Feyenoord’s manager, Arne Slot.

Te Kloese and Slot have had a highly successful season at the Dutch club, culminating in Feyenoord winning their first league title since 2017.

It seems logical that Levy would seek a sporting director who could effectively collaborate with the potential new manager in the form of Slot.
