Another twist in Tottenham’s managerial saga – Journalist names manager who is still “fully in the race” for the job

By Mehdi Gokal -

In a surprising twist to Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial saga, Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim is now “fully in the race” for the vacant position at the North London club.

This news comes as a shock, considering all previous reports had pointed towards Arne Slot’s imminent appointment as Spurs’ new manager.

Reports had indicated that Slot’s agent was scheduled to meet with Feyenoord’s general manager, Dennis te Kloese, today to discuss the interest from Tottenham and Slot’s willingness to leave.

However, with no release clause in Slot’s contract, it is reported that Feyenoord could adopt a tough stance to retain the manager who led them to their first Eredivisie title since 2017.

Amidst these developments, Galetti’s revelation about Amorim adds another layer of uncertainty. The Portuguese manager has been linked with Spurs for some time now and remains a viable option for the club.

Additionally, Galetti mentions Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti as another contender for the Tottenham job. Spalletti recently guided Napoli to their first league title in 33 years but is reportedly set to depart due to a rift with director of football Cristiano Guintoli.

Galetti told GiveMeSport:

“Ruben Amorim, together with Luciano Spalletti, is fully in the race for the Spurs job.

The current sporting manager, in terms of the idea of play and tactical model, would be seen as a choice of continuity compared to today.”

This latest development throws another curveball into the ongoing managerial saga at Tottenham Hotspur.

While earlier reports had suggested Slot’s imminent arrival in London, the potential interest in Amorim and Spalletti could add further twists to the search for a new manager.

It is still too early to say who will be the next Tottenham manager, but it is clear that the club are still considering a number of options. With the summer transfer window just around the corner, it is important that Spurs get their appointment right.
