Fears Over Reguilon Recall To Real Madrid Are Misplaced

By The Boy -

It would be helpful for everyone if simple tasks such as the reporting of facts could be done without journalists treating their readers like fools, and blurring basic information with their own invention. This morning has been a great example of this. Kiro Evans for The Sun leads with what appears to be a heavy dose of gloom and doom. One cannot argue with ‘buy back clauses’ and ‘transfer returns’, eh? After all, Tottenham’s loan of Sergio Reguilon will leave us to a certain extent at the mercy of Real Madrid, who after all still own the boy.

Spanish outlet AS simply laments the loss of 3 players as Real Madrid’s last few results have faltered.

Now he is one of the strong men of the Premier. Reguilón (sold to Tottenham), given Marcelo’s form and his age (32), could have been very necessary. Like Achraf (sold to Inter) on the other side for the future. O Ceballos (on loan to Arsenal) in the midfield ...

AS

The source article provides the clarity and reassurance that Kiro (one can only presume) deliberately slung out the way in order to create an edge to the tale – that most likely is simply not there.

Indeed, there is a big leap from describing a player the Spanish giants were very happy to get shot of just a few weeks ago, as could have been very necessary and suggesting a recall is on the cards.

AS and The Sun forget who they are dealing with in Zidane. A coach that let Gareth Bale sit in the stands whilst draining in excess of €500,000 a week out of the club.

Is a player that was branded expendable, suddenly going to save Zinedine’s season? Could Real Madrid recall Sergio? Of course. Equally, Boris Johnson could announce in the House of Commons tomorrow that Brexit is giving him a headache and upon reflection, he’s decided to keep the United Kingdom in the EU.

Yes, that is undoubtedly true about Zidane, however it doesn’t mean to say that Reguilon himself would want to return to Spain after just one year. Per his interview on Sky today, he is very happy with his choice of coming to us. Would he decide to return with absolutely no guarantee of being first choice at RM? Personally I doubt it.

Sergio has the final say in where he ends up anyway. We love him here, he loves being here.. If you think about it, Madrid haven’t exactly treated the lad that well, loaning him out here there and everywhere. Where as he has been made to feel like royalty, and quite right too with us. I don’t think if RM came knocking down our door for him to come back to them he’d want to go. Maybe we can sell them Sessignon instead with a nice tidy profit.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. – Mark Twain.

I would suggest that the article would have gone over the heads of most Sun readers given the lack of any reference to t*ts.

If you read my post below, I suggest that Zidane’s position is very precarious at the moment. If he is sacked, then it will put a different perspective on their buyback position if the new manager has a different view of Sergio’s abilities.

Firstly, Reguilon was a £27 million purchase from Real Madrid, an important distinction. It is not a loan and the ‘buy-back’ clause cannot be activated before the end of the first year. So minimally Spurs have him for the whole season.

Secondly, per the reported terms of the ‘buy-back’ clause, Real Madrid would have to pay Spurs £10 million more than the Spurs paid for him, which would in effect mean Real Madrid paying us £10 million for ‘loaning’ us the player.

Thirdly, Zidane doesn’t fancy the player, because if he did he would have already incorporated him into his squad. Therefore, as long as Zidane is the manager, it is very unlikely that he will try and buy him back.

Finally, most pertinently, Reguilon doesn’t have to accept a transfer back to
Real Madrid. In fact, why would he want to go back to play for a manager who
basically has made it clear he doesn’t fancy him and where he wouldn’t be first choice?

Plus, Reg just came out today on Sky and said how happy he is here and so glad he made the decision to come to Spurs. So, in spite of typical garbage from the ‘Currant Bun’, Reg should be here for the long haul. Great news for us, cos the boy is a hell of a talented young player!

I should think that Perez is regretting bringing back Zidane as RM manager now. They lost at home last Saturday to Cadiz and also at home to Shaktar last night in the CL. He’s on thin ice at the moment.

Did we not spend £30 million on the lad with RM having a buy back option in a couple of years?

Madrid don’t own him anymore, Spurs purchased him so they can’t just call him back. I read they can buy him back for 5 million more than we paid, after a certain period ( 2021 I think), but only if he agrees to go back…..
