“Fake news” These Fan Reactions Epitomize The Divide Between “Pochtremists” & “Reasonable Fans”

By The Boy -

Voices of sanity are occasionally tough to detect amongst football fans, and that’s certainly the case with Tottenham fans who are still grieving the loss of Mauricio Pochettino and err… those that are not.

Despite not actually winning anything in his five and half years at Spurs, old Poch left with the type of warmth that many fans had previously extended to Keith Birkenshaw, a coach who had comparatively endless successes in competitions both foreign and domestic.

In fairness to the modern fan, the game has changed a hell of a lot in the last 30-odd years. A good many of your common or garden variety Millennial fans are genuinely content with an extremely plush stadium and talk of financial prudence; whilst clutching a slice of artisan pizza in one hand, and a smartphone in the other.

For those still emotionally invested in the Argentine, everything about Mourinho is too risky and generally doom-laden. For those that prefer to back proven winner, success at Spurs can’t come soon enough.

The fan reactions to this one tweet epitomize the angst that exists, over a matter that all too similar to the Leave vs Remain squabbles.

Who are you to say so? He’s won nothing since he’s been in this league, 8 years is it? For me that makes him a “bum

I am not sure why you display such animus to Poch. If somebody had told you that we would qualify four times for the CL and reach the CL final under his management, I think you would have been quite happy. He was the best managerial appointment Levy has made. The sacking of Paul Mitchell, who appears to have little problem in gainful employment and two blank transfer windows would have been enough to try the patience of a saint. Let’s see how he gets on at his new club, wherever that might be. In the meantime, we have employed a previously serial winner who was sacked from his last two jobs. The sad truth is that Levy has failed to back the manager on more than one occasion when we have had the makings of a very good team. Under the current Enic business model, I fail to see how any manager can win trophies at Spurs.

Maureen will win nothing, he is a busted flush. Hopefully he will not wreck the team too much before he gets sacked. Should have gone for Julian Nagelsmann.

Your dislike of the Pochmeister always makes me smile H.
No-one is irreplaceable so while I enjoyed the ride and wished the scum at the top had backed him I am cool with the Strange One as long as he wins a few pots.
