Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs are closing in on first summer deal after receiving “green light”

Fabrizio Romano has given the latest update on Ange Postecoglou’s imminent appointment at Spurs.

Earlier, Romano stated that Tottenham had reached a verbal agreement with the Australian, pending negotiations with Celtic over compensation.

In his latest update, Romano has confirmed that the two clubs have now reached an agreement on the compensation for Postecoglou. He used his signature phrase “Here we go” to indicate that the deal is all but done.

He confirmed that the Australian is now poised to take over as the head coach of Tottenham. The formal announcement is expected to follow once the final clauses and compensation documents are completed.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted:

“Ange Postecoglou will become new Tottenham head coach, here we go!”

” The agreement on two year deal plus option for further season has been reached as revealed in the morning.”

“Green light on final clauses, time to seal compensation documents with Celtic — then, official.”

Tottenham have faced challenges in their search for a replacement for former manager Antonio Conte, who was sacked in March.

Initially, Julian Nagelsmann was considered the favourite for the job, but concerns over the club’s sporting director position and his role in transfers led to negotiations falling through.

Arne Slot was the second set-back the club received. Tottenham had a successful first meeting with him but soon after the initial talks, the manager committed himself to the Dutch club. It was reported that the clubs failed to come to terms over the compensation fee and Tottenham felt they were being taken advantage of.

But it appears so that the long awaited wait for a new manager is over. Even though Postecoglou might not be a high-profile name but he has done a remarkable job at Celtic which even earned him comparisons with Pep Guardiola.

This season, he guided Celtic to a domestic treble and has now secured five trophies in just two years with the Scottish club.

As the official announcement of Postecoglou’s appointment draws near, Tottenham fans will be eager to see how he can help Spurs rebuild and become a team that competes with the rest of the big guns.
