Former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has recently been linked with the Tottenham job.
It was reported yesterday that the Spaniard is now Tottenhamās number one target as they continued their search for Antonio Conteās replacement.

He has also been linked with a return to Real Madrid who reportedly will also be in hunt for a new manager next season with Carlo Ancelottiās future at the club uncertain.
However, Alonso has made it clear that he is focused on his current role and is committed to achieving more with his current team. When asked about the rumours, he said, as shared by Fabrizio Romano:

With Alonso pretty much ruling him out of the job for now, the search for a new Spurs manager remains wide open with the club linked with a number of candidates.
While Julian Nagelsmann was the supposed favourite for the job, recent reports stated that talks with him have hit a stumbling block.Ā
Arne Slot meanwhile according to ESPN has emerged as a serious contender for the job. Slot has been making waves in the Dutch league this season, with Feyenoord currently sitting eight points clear at the top of the table. His impressive management skills have garnered significant attention and could make him an attractive prospect for Spurs.
Daniel Levy will be under a lot of pressure to get the appointment right as he cannot afford to get another managerial appointment wrong at the club, specially considering he has already made the decision to not go after Mauricio Pochettino who is not close to becoming the manager of their London rivals Chelsea.
