Julian Nagelsmann who was said to the front-runner for the Spurs job for the longest of times was recently ruled out after failed talks with the club.
However, according to the latest reports doing the rounds, it is said that he back in contention for the job.
According to the report from The TImes yesterday, the German manager also recommended a name to Levy for the role of sporting director who he could work along.
But despite the reports, the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has made the claim that there has been no fresh contact between the club and Julian Nagelsmann. He also gave a detailed scoop on what happened behind the scenes that led to Tottenham not proceeding with the German during initial talks.
In the latest video on his YouTube channel, he said:
“From what I understand, there are no fresh conversations between Tottenham and Julian Nagelsmann. There is nothing concrete,”
“To tell you the truth, Nagelsmann was open to speaking to Tottenham about the job. It wasn’t until one week ago.
“But then what happened is he wanted DOF to be with him day to day to support his ideas. And this is why at the end, the talks were stopped. Tottenham decided to not proceed, and go with a different idea. To decide on a director, and then go for a coach.
“This is why the talks have not been advancing. What we can say today is the situation has not changed.”
Tottenham’s poor season continued as they lost 3-1 to Brentford at home. The game summed up their season as they fell apart in the second half conceding three goals despite taking the lead in the first half. Much like their season which fell apart in the second half post World Cup.
With the season coming to end, Spurs need to quickly focus on the rebuild and that starts with making the crucial decision of appointing a sporting director and a manager.
