Exclusive: How Big Ange’s reign inside Hotspur Way has become toxic

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is under intense pressure, with his fate potentially decided by Thursday’s match against Frankfurt.

Following the disappointing defeat to Wolverhampton, the club’s management held a crucial meeting with the Australian coach, issuing a stern warning and giving him a final chance to turn things around.

If Tottenham fails to secure a result against Frankfurt, Postecoglou could be dismissed immediately. Some board members are pushing for his removal, while others believe he deserves one last opportunity. The outcome of this fixture could trigger a major managerial shake-up at the club.

The Boy Hotspur understands that the matter is somewhat deeper, somewhat darker than what the board might feel about the drifting results.

Sources close to players, agents and connections are all making the same noises about Big Ange’s doomed second season in England’s top flight.

James Maddison, we are told, has directly clashed with Postecoglou. Dejan Kulusevsky is described as physically exhausted.

Mikey Moore is another player to have been patronised by the current gaffer.

Cuti Romero has interest from Real and Atlético Madrid have begun conversations with the player’s representatives, due to his discontent with his surroundings at Tottenham Hotspur.

One comment we have heard on more than one occasion is that Guglielmo Vicario’s role as a senior voice in the squad has been met internally with a fair amount of bewilderment by some playing staff

Our view

For those still championing this utterly dysfunctional coach, who has this far guided us into the lower echelons of the division, by all means, keep discussing the improbable upsides.

Maybe we’ll spank Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, and it’ll all be fine again.

From what we have heard, the atmosphere inside Hotspur Way and is nothing shy of toxic and it is little wonder that the results have been so dreadfully poor, beyond that atypical run of 10 games, last season.

The sooner a decision which aids the fans feeling less hostile is made, the better.
