Sky Sports pundit slams Tottenham star for being ‘too smart’ against Wolves

By Saikat -

Tottenham crashed to a disappointing defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.

They were expected to bounce back after a humiliating defeat against Sheffield United in the FA Cup and the players would have been expected to step up and produce a strong reaction here.

However, the Londoners put on a disappointing performance and ended up on the losing side.

The Londoners were toothless in the attack and failed to find the back of the net despite creating numerous chances in the first half.

South Korean international Son Heung-Min has not been at his best this season and he looked nervy in front of the goal.

The 30-year-old had a great opportunity to score a goal when he did brilliantly to get past two players but his finish was quite mediocre. That said, the flag had gone up for offside and the goal would not have counted.

However, Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd believes that Son was trying to be too smart and he should be doing better with opportunities like that.

“Tottenham put it down so quickly,” Boyd said on Sky Sports News (4/3/22, 15:44).

“Son goes through one-on-one, but he tries to be too smart and blasts it over. He should’ve done much better.”

Son has been one of Tottenham’s best players since joining the club but things have not gone according to plan for him this year. The 30-year-old has scored just 5 goals in 24 league matches and it remains to be seen whether he can recapture his peak form in the coming weeks.
