The backline is a priority for Tottenham Hotspur as they lol to bring a central defender for manager Antonio Conte’s three-at-the-back system, which already has Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.
Spurs are seeing plenty of names connected to them to help fill this need, with Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie being one of the targets. To give some insight into what player the Ecuadorian is, ESPN’s Tim Vickery spoke with talkSPORT to provide some insight.
Vickery states that the 20-year-old would be a perfect fit for a three center-back formation that the north London club wants to deploy under the Italian tactician.
“He’s developed excellent for a back three system because he’s left-footed, and he brings the ball out. He’s very proficient at bringing the ball out. He’s constructive. My doubt about him is he’s a bit spindly,” Vickery said.
“Those little spindly legs. You think he’s going to blow over in a stiff breeze, so that would concern me a little bit. There have been center-backs who have come into the Premier League and struggled physically. That may be a factor, but he’s developing very, very quickly. And every time I see him, I like him more.”
Hincapie appeared last season in 33 fixtures, where he scored two goals and recorded one assist. When it comes to a possible fee that they might have to pay this summer to the German club, Transfermarkt puts his value at £15-million for the defender who is under contract until 2026.
And 2 decent wing backs.
Me too Bremer is well regarded ..reckon there is a 25 mil limit on each purchase ..as the old sell before you buy reality kicks in
I might be thick as someone pointed out the other day but to me Davies did a pretty good job at LCB last season and I think our bigger needs are a capable backup for Harry and creative midfielder.
“*expletive Me”
Missed the part where it says he is 20
he will fill out as he gets older.
Anyway the I-Team will do due diligence on the lad they will take everything into account.
Anyway I thought if we didnt get Bastoni we would get Bremer?
It is not only about the stature brain and heart are important too.
Take my pin up boy DD – built like a boxer (and I admit his distribution is very good) but with the heart of a mouse this bloke may be excellent I have never seen him and if we look at Romero he is pretty average build but he has heart and brain.
My thoughts exactly. Doesn’t matter just as much for a forward, but a PL defender needs presence and physicality, or they’ll be swept aside. Can’t see anything coming of this one.
The weak guys don’t usually make it at Spurs – see Foyth, Gil
