Tottenham are still keen on signing AS Roma star midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo according to TuttoMercatoWeb (via Sports Witness).

The Italian’s current contract expires in 2024, raising concerns about his future in Rome, particularly after Spurs made some moves during the summer transfer window, courtesy of Fabio Paratici, who has long been a fan.

Tottenham reportedly even made a €40 million bid for Zaniolo in the summer, but the Italians turned it down as they valued by Roma at €50 million.

But while Spurs were turned down, they have not gone away as according to the latest report by TuttoMercatoWeb, Spurs are still eyeing a move for him. According to the report, ‘everybody wants him’ but the Italian club are trying to get him to sign a new contract. The report further says that Roma are ‘far from being protected’ by the contract with Spurs being top of the list of Premier League clubs interested in him.

Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte are ‘well-known admirers’ of the 23-year-old playmaker and they remain keen on signing the player.

Juventus are also interested in signing him and are closely monitoring his situation at Roma. The report adds that there could lots of developments regarding Zaniolo ‘in the coming months’.

Spurs could really do with a quality attacking midfielder in their team who could bring in some creativity in what is currently a very lackluster Tottenham side. Another name being linked with a January move is Leicester City star, James Maddison.
