According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli continue to chase Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and have now made him their “priority signing”.
Lo Celso has struggled to secure a regular place in the Tottenham squad in recent years and has spent a significant amount of time on loan at Villarreal recently where has impressed.
It was previously reported by journalist Matt Law that the player has his heart set on leaving this summer.
However, his pre-season performances under new manager Ange Postecoglou seems to have turned his fortunes around.
The Argentine was brilliant against West Ham in Tottenham’s first pre-season game and even got himself on the scoresheet.
And he was on the score sheet once again in their friendly against Lion City Sailors in Singapore.
Latest reports from Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte had claimed that Ange Postecoglou has convinced Giovani Lo Celso to stay at Tottenham.
It stated that the manager has been left delighted by his performances in pre-season and believes he would “fit into his plans” .
And now according to the Italian outlet, Napoli have not given up on signing the Argentine. It says Lo Celso brings exactly ‘what is needed’ to Napoli’s midfield and the club’s connection to Argentina makes the transfer even more desirable.
The midfielder seems to have gotten a second life at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou and so far he is proving himself to be a serious contender for the starting XI next season.
But a transfer to the Italian league winners could be too much a tempting opportunity to reject.
