European club are “confident of finalising” deal for Tottenham star

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to reports by Turkish publication Sabah, Fenerbahce are working to secure the signing of Tottenham winger Lucas Moura before the Turkish League’s extended transfer window deadline on March 5th.

Lucas Moura’s current contract with Spurs expires at the end of the season, and the club has no intention of extending it.

The Express reports that even though the player has expressed his desire to finish his career in Brazil, he believes that he still has a few more years left to offer in Europe.

As per the report, Fenerbahce are “confident of finalising” the deal, as they face no competition from other European clubs due to their transfer window already being closed. The Turkish club is said to be working to secure the deal “immediately.”

The Brazilian’s recent season has been hampered by injury, and he has yet to feature in the Premier League this season, having fallen down the pecking order behind other players such as Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Harry Kane, and Son.

However, Lucas Moura was a crucial player for Tottenham during the tenure of former manager Mauricio Pochettino, playing a significant role in the team’s fantastic run to the Champions League final in 2019 which they eventually lost to Liverpool.

Since joining Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €28 million in 2017, Moura has made 213 appearances for the North London club, contributing to 65 goals with 38 goals and 27 assists.

The extended transfer window in the Turkish League comes after a devastating earthquake that hit the region, with the deadline now set to March 5th.
