Ekstra Bladet: Eriksen To Inter Deal Worth Less Than £20M

By Joe Fish -

Christian Eriksen is expected to reach an agreement to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Inter Milan in January, according to sources in Denmark.

Sky Sports Italy claimed earlier this week that Inter had made contact with representatives of the midfielder, whose contract expires in the summer.

Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet has reaffirmed those reports, and understand that everything is pointing towards Eriksen and Inter finalising terms “imminently” ahead of a transfer worth £15m-£18m in this window.

The Eriksen contract and transfer saga has been rumbling on for months and Ekstra Bladet have been at the centre throughout. In fact, it was they who secured the scoop with Eriksen when he first revealed publicly that he wanted to leave North London for a new challenge in June 2019.

Real Madrid seemed the 27-year-old’s most likely destination then but so advanced is Inter’s interest in him that Ekstra Bladet now writes – “Forget about Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. Christian Eriksen is unlikely to end up here when he leaves Tottenham.”

Although a more attractive proposition now under Antonio Conte, Inter is a bit of a drop off from Real, and I think Eriksen can only blame himself for this. Had he got his head down and played at his best over the past year then clubs would have been queuing up to take him at a knockdown price.

As it is, Inter may be the best of his options. I’ll just be glad when it’s over.

they are curently short in midfield with some of key players and signing injured. they are after vidal as well, but i guess they see that 20 mil is relatuvely cheap for someone who had 100 mil price tag last year. I guess this is better for most party, tottenham get some money, inter get quality midfield and erickssen got way out he wanted so much. and probably he will be happy to work under conte. who knows, he might try to become part of serie a champion within 6 months ?

Ericksen ? He is just an annoyance , and you can put Lamela into that category as well.

Possibly because for a comparatively small outlay they can add to their squad in a season where it is possible they can break Juve’s stranglehold on the league. They are top at the moment.A small price to pay for that glory.

Why pay £20 million now when you can get him for free in June?
