The Manchester Evening News’ Dominic Booth didn’t care for Jose Mourinho’s recent comments about United’s luck this season.

Yet it was an odd response, because despite the piece’s title, there was no actual response beyond some huffing and puffing about luck all evening itself out in the end.

This is something I wouldn’t make a point of disagreeing with – but that’s more worthy of the sort of wit and wisdom that’s printed on cheesy fridge magnets, than a reply to an allegation.
Mr Booth continues, saying that United’s position is entirely merited and that The Special One is distracting because Spurs only have Europa football to chase.
Eventually I worked out that ‘already responded’ in the headline refers to; Solskjaer’s securing of Champions League football, and that Ole has already moved United on from Jose’s tenure.
This is tragically weak fare, given Mourinho’s spell at Old Trafford the Portuguese delivered a League Cup, the Europa League Cup and the Charity Shield, along with a 58.33 win percentage.
Ole’s win percentage of 52.6% shows promise, but still no silverware. Until such time that things improve tangibly for Manchester United, I’d keep the champagne on ice, and enjoy your club’s luck.

You’re right, he’s a bean counter who doesn’t give a flying f..k whether we win trophies or not as long as ENIC grab our cash. However I think missing out on CL and even Europe entirely will hurt him in the pocket. We’ll have to wait and see.
The football is going to have to improve big time, if it does then i’ll be happy to see us winning the right way. Until that time I remain unimpressed with what I’m seeing.
Any team can defend well with 10 players behind the ball, what’s so clever about what he’s done? Nuffink…
I agree, he should be thinking that. This is what makes the whole thing so laughable, Poch was crying out for backing, the fans were crying out for backing. Now it’s Jose’s turn as a result, but we didn’t need to be in this position. No signings in a whole year? That’s just neglectful given where we were…
Levy does not strike me as someone who learns from anything when it comes to spending or not spending money…
CL Football – the Red Rags are 5th??????
Lets wait and see how he does next season after a full preseason and hopefully some backing in the transfer market (well you never know, Levy might wake up with no prospect of top 4 and think “I caused that”)..
It bit of a cheap shot at Jose without doubt.
However, for Ole to have a win percentage so far only 5% lower than Jose’s, given Ole’s supposed lack of managerial credential compared to ‘the special one’ Booth might still have a point if you look at it in context. I mean, you’d expect a decorated manager of Jose’s calibre to be outstripping Ole’s percentages all day long wouldn’t you?
Which all begs the question, is Jose as ‘special’ as he once was? I seriously have my doubts…
