Some reports from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira and others suggested Tottenham had opened talks with Crystal Palace for Jean-Philippe Mateta. Michael Bridge has wandered into the discussion.
This was tied to a potential domino effect: Juventus are pushing to sign Randal Kolo Muani (on loan at Spurs from PSG), who has struggled for form and minutes.
If Kolo Muani leaves, Spurs might need a replacement, and Mateta was floated as a contingency.
Crystal Palace value him at around £40m, and they’ve been firm on that price amid interest from clubs like Nottingham Forest, Juventus, and Tottenham. Palace is close to signing Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolves, which could facilitate Mateta’s exit if bids meet their demands. Mateta has reportedly been asked to leave Palace after contract talks stalled, making him available.
Despite a few reports elsewhere, Spurs have no interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta. #THFC #CPFC

Reliable reports from sources like Michael Bridge, and Gianluca Di Marzio confirm that Tottenham have no intention of ending the loan early. Spurs are not open to letting him go at this stage, even with the January transfer window nearing its close.
Thomas Frank has spoken positively about him recently, noting his goal in the Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt (his former club) and hoping it boosts his confidence amid the speculation.
Kolo Muani’s form at Spurs has been mixed: he’s struggled in the Premier League (0 goals/assists in around 15 appearances), but he’s contributed in Europe (including goals against PSG and Frankfurt, making him Spurs’ top scorer in the Champions League so far this season).
Also understand Spurs currently have no intention to cut Randal Kolo Muani’s loan from Paris Saint-Germain short. Sky in Italy are reporting that Juventus want to bring the forward back to Turin. However, as things stand Spurs are not open to letting the France international go.…
