Conte’s men kept their unbeaten start to the season intact by defeating the Cottagers 2-1 at home on Saturday.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane were on the scoresheet for Spurs, however, they failed to keep a clean sheet when the in-form Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a brilliant goal to get Fulham back in the game. Shortly after Mitrovic scored, Lloris produced an outstanding save to deny him an equializer.
But although disappointed that Spurs didn’t keep a clean sheet, Conte was very impressed with how his captain maintained his focus throughout the game. Conte told Spurs Play:
“Especially in this type of game because we were good to create many chances and not concede chances to Fulham.”
“Especially in this type of game, the good keepers always stay with great attention because Hugo is a fantastic goalkeeper for us.
“I’m a bit disappointed because we could’ve finished this game with another clean sheet but it’s ok. To get three points and 14 points in the table is important.
“It’s important because we had a good start this season and it’s important before the game in the Champions League to arrive with a good win.”
Conte clearly sees Lloris as a key player in his squad, and he came up big for the Italian when he needed him yesterday. Spurs dominated for long stretches, but Lloris came up with two big saves when needed, allowing his team to take all three points.
As Glenn would say “I was scratching me ‘ead” thinking who disappointed.
