Did You Spot Spurs’ MOTM Against West Brom?|infographic

By The Boy -

It wasn’t Big Sam Allardyce.

After a few performances that fell below his usual high standards, our man PEH shook off the MEH and served up a performance to be proud of. The Spurs were in bad need of a pick me up, after a run of three losses on the bounce, a fourth would have triggered some of the darkest online abuse yet.

Beating an admittedly tough West Brom side is to be celebrated, but the hard yards are still very much ahead of us. The sooner Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso return to training, the better.

Pierre’s passing was on point, there was a key pass, and that assist. The Dane won 7 duels as well as making more attacking third passes (18) than any other Tottenham or West Bromwich Albion player.

Hojbjerg also made more passes than another player on the park.

Nicely put. i could not agree with you more, but win lose or draw, i will put my hands up to see the same formation and if Serge is available, same personnel. We have not seen much of this kind of consistency from for team selection. Not sure who invented everyone has to play rule. All the teams ahead of us has a base to build off, we are just like a box of leggos. Whatever fit works until we find the other piece only to discover, you had the wrong piece all along.

It’s time to bring Skippy back. He would be devastating in the pivot with Hojbjerg, and as you said, Tanguy up in a more attacking position.
Son, Tanguy and Gio (if we can keep him fit) in behind Kane.

Yes win but why two midfielders stay at back throughout the match For example Ndomble stay at back throughout the match that is Jose defence stastic
Better let him play forward sometimes

There was a totally different energy today, from start to finish. I am sure the recovery of Harry Kane played a big part, but I really liked the composition of the team and the attacking mentality from the outset. It noticeably had a liberating effect on the players.

I have been advocating starting Lamela for several games now, as well as definitively restoring Toby to central defence and playing Aurier instead of Doherty. I hadn’t expected both Lucas and Lamela to start, with Ndombele supplanting Sissoko as the second DM pivot, but this naturally gave us a lot more creativity.

It’s really very simple. Davies, Sanchez, Dier and Doherty create nothing, they are not capable of creating anything. Can’t dribble, can’t pass, can’t beat a player. Toby can pass, Aurier can at least beat a man and create something and Lamela and Moura are the most skillful players we have in the squad who are not actually in the starting XI.

The end result was that we actually played some effing football, ‘audere est facere’ and all that! We attacked the opposition, relentlessly. It was as energising as the performance against Chelsea was turgid. Yes Hojbjerg was terrific, but it was the attacking mindset and the personnel to execute it that made the difference today. More please!

I may have held my hands up too soon.?! Win game in hand and still only 6 points off 2nd….beat City and Spam and suddenly it’s all different. I thought Kane was getting back for Arsenal March 13th at a push? What the hell happened?
Despite that freak 9 Utd only got 4 points out of poss 12, 3 of 4 matches at home too….couple of the Everton goals, especially the late leveller were just ….well, standard really. We’ve all watched and played football for years, seriously, watch that late Everton goal again. It’s beyond silly.

PEH has been a bright spot ..but he needs somebody half decent next to him…I dont think Tangy is the answer he needs to be further up the pitch. I would have brought Skipp back.

Definitely.. Reg will become world class though. I expect Madrid will take him back. If Reg stays then I’ll be over the moon.

Fell asleep and missed it all 🤦‍♀️ Hojberg is like a duracell battery, has he ever been rested? I’m expecting Kane to be instrumental on his return. To think quite a few fans wanted him sold recently!
