Di Mazio understands ‘two sides’ are ‘negotiating’ for Spurs man’s exit

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Tottenham Hotspur are currently in talks with Lazio over the potential sale of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The departure of Lloris from Tottenham was confirmed earlier by manager Ange Postecoglou, and the French goalkeeper was also left behind from the team’s pre-season preparations.

Lloris has also publicly expressed his desire to leave the club, stating his intention to explore new opportunities.

The Frenchman told Nice-Matin:

“We are coming to an important moment, whether for the club or for me. It’s the end of an era. I have desires for other things, I will ask myself quietly to study what will be possible.

“But I don’t forget that I still have a year of contract with Tottenham and that in football it is always difficult to predict what will happen. What is essential at the moment is to recover well from my injury. I’m on vacation but I continue to talk and do my training. My goal is to be on top in July, then we’ll see what the future holds.”

Despite being linked to several clubs including Al Hilal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Milan, Lloris has yet to secure a move away from Tottenham.

The experienced goalkeeper is now being strongly linked to a transfer to Italian side Lazio, who are seeking a replacement following the departure of their goalkeeper Maximiano to Almeria.

According to Di Marzio, ‘the two sides are negotiating’ to finalize the transfer terms for Lloris.

While Tottenham have been busy signing new players to bolster their squad, the focus has now shifted to offloading players, particularly those who are not in the plans of manager Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham has already secured the services of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli as a replacement for Lloris.

The veteran goalkeeper’s potential move to Lazio would mark the end of his long and successful tenure at Tottenham and open a new chapter in his career with the Italian club.
