Details of ‘furious’ Tottenham star’s physical altercation with teammate emerge

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with his South Korea teammate Lee Kang-in.

The 31-year-old ended up dislocating his finger during the altercation.

According to a report shared by the Portuguese publication Record, the Paris Saint-Germain attacker tried to punch the Tottenham star when Son grabbed him and the two players had to be separated.

A group of young players wanted to head out for a game of table tennis but senior players were not receptive to the idea before the semi-final match of the Asian Cup against Jordan. With some of the younger teammates refusing to listen to the captain, the Spurs attacker was left ‘furious’ and he grabbed the PSG striker which started the altercation.

South Korea eventually lost the game to Jordan and they were eliminated from the competition in the semi final.

Lee Kang-in has already shared his apology on his social media account claiming that he should have obeyed his teammates and he revealed that he is sorry for his actions. The report from Record also shares a statement from the South Korean federation claiming that the younger players wanted to play table tennis before the game and the older players did not like it. A few words were exchanged and Son injured his finger during the process.

The Spurs attacker was clearly influenced by his emotions in the moment but he has displayed exemplary personality on the pitch throughout the years. He has been a model professional for the Premier League club and his country.
