The 19-year-old has been one of the brightest players at the Tottenham academy and he was tipped to make the step up as one of the club’s breakout stars in the future.
He failed to break into the team last season under Jose Mourinho and is still down the pecking order under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Sunderland needs a new left-back and they have now had their offer for Cirkin accepted by Tottenham.
Football Insider reports that the League One club made a six-figure bid for him and Tottenham thought it was worth accepting.
The report claims that he was at Sunderland lunchtime yesterday to put the finishing touches on his transfer to the Black Cats.
Sunderland has been keen to return to the Premier League and will try to win promotion back to the Championship at the end of this season.
Cirkin will have his medical and sign a contract with them soon to start a new chapter in his career.
He will hope he can help them achieve a return to England’s second-tier at the first time of asking.
