No striker signed and no new right back… It was not the best transfer window for Spurs last month, although we’ve certainly had worse!
But it seems we may have done at least one good deal in offloading Danny Rose, if only on loan, to Newcastle United.
Rose did little to convince Jose Mourinho that he was worthy of a place in his Spurs plans. And after just three appearances for Newcastle, many of the Toon Army have already written him off too.
“Lazy”, “Spineless”, “over weight” and a “waste of loan money”. These are the views of just a few disgruntled Newcastle fans on Twitter.
One also wrote that the Magpies should “send him back to Spurs”.
Rose was brilliant a few years ago – arguably the best left back in the Premier League. But those days are long gone and it seems that the best thing to do now would be to get rid permanently.
Frustratingly, Rose is much more talented than Ben Davies. But the Welshman’s commitment has never been questioned.
Let’s be honest, neither are good enough now for where we want to be and a new no.3 will likely be on Mourinho’s summer wish-list.
