“Cucks” “Hope Daniel Levy is watching” These fans are stunned by the latest club announcement

By The Boy -

What a time to be alive. I only spent years foretelling of this collapse amongst some of our support and it’s all come true. I invite you to scroll through the club’s thread wishing Liverpool well and see just how thin on the ground and utterly awkward comments in support of the ENIC business model are. 20 years at the helm and one trophy to show for it.

Liverpool by stark contrast, went about their business in with the football team being the primary focus. No twaddle about sustainability or regenerating Liverpool. Proof, as they say, is in the pudding and just 3 years after being neck and neck, THFC is up to their ears in a generational debt, and still no closer to shaking off the title of the Premier League’s habitual losers. Liverpool are European and English champions!

The stadium is a curse in my opinion. ENIC had £340million squirrelled away, and they blew it and another £623M on “infrastructure” (translated, a device for them to make money without the football team getting in the way).

Yet Mr Levy is lauded as a business genius. Don’t take my word for it, open your browser and open your eyes.

Steve you can actually look this up it’s freely available information. We have rarely ever paid dividends, it’s generally not the norm with football clubs. Lewis has never put much in and he’s never taken much out. The day they sell the club for a huge profit will be the day they make their money from Spurs. Other than that Levy’s wage is the only money they take out.

This doesnt quite add up… Why would lewis bother owning it if it made him no money? Hes all about the money more so than mike ashley. Look him up and see how many pies he has his fingers in. From Australian agriculture to top hotels the list is endless… Im pretty sure that spurs have made alot of money for enic the past two decades. They wouldnt be wasting their time otherwise.

That ‘one’ trophy is rubbish as well. Many different supporters i know have called it the mickey mouse cup for years. Since the 90s i remember the top teams would play their kids or second string…. We held the record for most fa cup wins before levy.. We were soon surpassed by united and now the gooners have won it more times. The fa cup has always been magical for me.. The league cup noone cares about.. After 20 years levy should take a photo of himself next to his trophy cabinet. Shameful.

What do you mean “slowly releasing the financial restraints? How long we been in the new place earning? Stick by your negative unfaithful guns and stop being a hypocrite. Hopeless you man think my club is. In good time my club gonna make you man look stupid and weak. You wait.

Probably they could have moved on but what won’t have moved is their financial power, same with Chelsea. To give Levy his due he is slowly releasing the financial restraints, he’s paying the players bigger wages and fair play to him for the big money spent on Tanguy and Lo Celso. I just fear it that it’s not enough to close the gap to City, Liverpool, Chelsea.

A friend of mine always says that you don’t win The Premier League, you buy it and Levy just doesn’t want to pay the asking price that United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were willing to pay. If Levy knew the history of Tottenham Hotspur he’d know that the last time we won the English First Division title as it then was in the double winning year 1960-61 we were the big spending club of that day. I dare say he wants to win it but not badly enough he’d put in any of his own money. That’s his prerogative, he doesn’t have to but if Mourinho wins the Premier League with Spurs I’ll be astonished, delighted but astonished. I just can’t see how we overtake Liverpool or City with the net spend philosophy.

Fans want success, especially if we have had it before, unfortunately our owners understand that money can be made despite not being successful. It’s positively despicable. The world’s most valuable clubs have had sustained success in different periods of history, whether it be Dallas Cowboys, LA Lakers, NY Yankees or Man Utd. That built a worldwide fan base and even without success, money is still being made. Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since the mid 1990s, yet are the world’s most expensive sports club. Liverpool’s profile will be raised by this win and they can command higher revenue from sponsors, they will possibly get a few new supporters around the globe who want to wear their shirt. Their owners, Fenway, followed their own Boston Red Sox model and increased the capacity of Anfield, thus preventing a massive debt, but increasing revenue, particularly the corporate element. At present this is far more successful than Levy’s master plan, as both Boston and Liverpool have enjoyed success in the big competitions. HH has hit the nail on head numerous times by highlighting Levy’s model, which is to build the stadium before success, as this is as unprecedented as CV-19. But, who out of us believes Levy wants success? I don’t, not after the manner he treated Poch, and it pains me looking at him, especially when the media and people in football laud him. When looking at the most expensive clubs I notice NY Knicks. They haven’t won the NBA since the early 1970s, yet are worth $4bn. Obviously the New York brand goes a long way, bit like West Spam disgracefully embossing London on to their badge. Levy will have liked that move, London sells. However, it shows there is money to be made without success. What are our options? Not to support our club, no chance! Liverpool got rid of Hicks and Gillett, Newcastle are close to seeing the back of Ashley, but I have to hope Levy and Lewis will soon be gone, even though I know we need a miracle for that to happen.

Articles in The Athletic and The Telegraph on how Liverpool have risen and Spurs sunk after occupying roughly the same space. Harry even the quality press are coming to the same conclusion as you. I can feel the panic in the Spurs media office. Expect a load of juicy stories of fabulous incoming players to deflect attention.

They decided to extend ground capacity on the existing stadium, THAT was the most crucial decision as they knew they had to reinvest heavily in improving the squad, if they wanted to win trophies. They sat down and included the manager in their discussions on how to achieve the success they all craved, it still meant buying the right players, which undoubtedly they have done, if you all pull in the same direction , this is what you can achieve.

But I do agree we did well to generate that money and spending it wisely could have generated success and therefore more income. It’s just that the extra income would hinge on the success – which is not entirely in our control.

Either way round, long term we needed a new stadium to compete.

Liverpool have a massive worldwide following which dwarfs ours. They made far more revenue than us, despite being behind us in the league. They consequently could handle a much higher wage bill, which enabled them to pay their players more. To compete for a few seasons with them is possible, but long term we would always be behind them.

Sorry I don’t agree with this sentiment. Spurs had nearly £400m stashed away and had no problem generating revenue. We could have used that money to buy players, generate more revenue by winning trophies and then build our stadium. Anfield had a capacity of inly 45,000 2 seasons ago but it didn’t stop them.

You’re right we made large profits, but to my knowledge I don’t think they pay dividends out to shareholders (levy and Lewis) therefore the profits remain in the club coffers.

We don’t have to wait and see if they reinvest the money above the minumum. We have twice posted the biggest net profits for a football club, not just in the UK, not just in Europe but in the whole world, and still the message is clear, this summer very few signings and financed by sales and this was spelt out before Covid.

Take a good look at Arsenal, they were sold the same big lie, new stadium, a hotel, hundreds of flats, all to help Arsenal compete with United, City and Chelsea. How has that turned out. That’s where we’re going too. Liverpool are Champions and we’re champions too, Champions at making money for an investment company.

If those funds had been directed towards the playing squad in a sensible manner, there is no doubt we could have been up there competing for trophies with Liverpool and City. Whether we’d be better than them and won the league is an unknown. Given their record breaking standards set over the last few years, I’d guess not, but it’s only a guess.

It’s a tough one as a fan because we all want success now, but you want to compete long term too. If we had not built the stadium, our revenue would have always been less than the other teams at the top, ensuring we would permanently be underdogs. The FFP restrictions being the nail in the coffin – even if we were bought by a billionaire who wanted to spend, we’d be restricted by whatever we could legally generate.

With the stadium built (and putting the virus aside for a moment) we have a path to generating much more revenue than before even accounting for the loan repayments. It also gives us exposure across the world, which in turn helps generate even more.

We might sit here and wonder whether that matters if they don’t use that revenue to invest in the squad, we have to wait to see if this is the case or not. Only time will tell.

One thing is certain – without the stadium we would always be a second tier club. With it, we at least have the chance to stand alongside the biggest clubs.

Levy has a lot of bridges to mend but won’t spend the money on them.Sound familiar?
