“Coutinho + those 2” Some Spurs fans have very set views on a proposed deal

By Joe Fish -

Talk of a swap deal with Barcelona involving Tanguy Ndombele has got the Tottenham Twittersphere talking.

Sky Sports understands that we have been offered right-back Nelson Semedo and centre-back Samuel Umtiti in exchange for the 23-year-old midfielder whose first season in the Premier League has been ghastly.

Some Spurs supporters would rather sell their own mother than the Frenchman based on irrefutable faith in his ability, but others would be prepared to go the negotiating table.

After filtering through all the top Messi, Dembele, and De Jong banter, there were two more realistic names who kept cropping up…

So it looks like Philippe Coutinho and Arthur are the ones fans want, but Lyall Thomas added in his Sky report that the latter would not be an option.

Coutinho though does seem like he will be available. Adding him, even on loan, to Semedo and Umtiti and the deal becomes too good to turn down.

Bayern don’t pay massive fees so they won’t pay the reported £100m that Barca want. I like Coutinho, always have since he played against us v Inter, he, Alcantara and Gnabry were very good against us and he keeps the ball in tight areas very well, few of our players do this. He’s definitely an upgrade on Dele playing in the 10 position and he’s only 28. Any suggestion that Barca would swap him for Ndombele is ridiculous, especially with Arthur. We’d have to put Kane in the deal to get them two. Without Ch Lg this deal will never happen.

Coutinho’s time has come and gone, his career looks like a a game of pass the parcel. Do Bayern and Barcelona know something we don’t. Won’t be cheap, for me it’s a no, he is starting to remind me of that other boy wonder James Rodriguez.
