Contract Talks Disrupted By Crisis Says Coronavirus Victim Who Represents Japhet Tanganga

By Joe Fish -

The agent of Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga has been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic worse than most.

Not only has it affected Roberto De Fanti’s livelihood, but also his health as he contracted the virus at home in Italy, one of the worst hit countries.

Thankfully De Fanti is now in recovery, but understandably professional matters have taken a back seat, including a contract extension for Tanganga after his breakthrough season at Spurs.

The 21-year-old has been a ray of light across a dismal defence but there is some anxiety over his contract which expires in 2021, after Spurs triggered a one-year option as Football London details.

De Fanti has eased concerns about another contract saga at Spurs by telling Italian publication Tutto Mercato that talks over a new deal for Tanganga will resume after the crisis has calmed.

“We were in talks with Tottenham for renewal but this crisis obviously slowed everything down,” De Fanti is quoted by Tutto Mercato as saying. “When it ends we will resume the interrupted speech.”

Tanganga’s performances this season have been enough to assure he will be a key part of Jose Mourinho’s plans going forward. I hope the contract is a long one and boasts a salary worthy of his development.
