Confirmed Tottenham starting XI to face Southampton

By Bruce Grove -

Yesterday was a fantastic day for Tottenham, the signing of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon is massive, however, neither will play any part today and the focus now has to move from transfers to picking up three points against Southampton.

The Saints will be far from walkovers and if Jose Mourinho’s men perform like they did last week against the Toffees then expect another loss.

The players today have to step up, few of them can be considered guaranteed starters going forward and now is the time for them to lay down markers.

The pressure is now on and I do expect both the players and manager to respond because simply put, nothing less than three points is acceptable.

This is the Tottenham team to face Southampton, let us know in the comments what you think and whether this team is good enough to beat the Saints.

We’ve been dreadful. Like the toffees match, the opposition have been better than us all over the park. Like Spuds of old; if your team is not on form and are in need of a lift and a result, play Tottenham. Maureen’s 2nd half chat or changes need to work wonders. Surely we can’t be that bad for another 45?

Ndombele takes a lot of credit for that goal.

I agree with your analysis Bruce, yesterday was a fantastic day like no other in our history, but now we need to concentrate on football and getting the wins under our belt. These are the teams we should be taking points off if we’re going to stand a chance of top 4.

Players have to step up, I’m looking at Moura and Ndombele for starters. Game of mentality this, we should be stronger.

I would be very happy with some slight improvement and 3 points ,really cant afford to start the first month 9 points off teams already. Im hoping the new signings have rocked the boat and geed up the squad.

Is he a sub? hopefully he will come on at some point . At somepoint drop Davies for Reguilin and Moura for Bale.

8 goals and 4 assists. A lot more than many others in forward positions.

If Ndombele does the biz, Winks will get the bullet as soon as Lo Celso is fully fit.

Jose needs to sort Dele out. Would be insane to let a big match player go

If N’Dombele can keep improving we will look a lot better. Big response needed after Everton, nothing less is acceptable or more of the dross will be looking for a new employer.

No Dele Ali in the squad even. Wow. Is it his turn for the Ndombele treatment or is he finished altogether?
