Confidence high Tottenham will sign target despite Daniel Levy being Daniel Levy

By Bruce Grove -

Daniel Levy is one of the toughest businessmen to negotiate with, and the Spurs’ supremo has continued to show that side of him as the Lilywhites look to add new players to their team this summer.

Kim Min-jae of Beijing Guoan has emerged as a transfer target for Tottenham in recent weeks and the Lilywhites have been negotiating his transfer.

90 Mins claim that Spurs and the Chinese side are far apart in negotiations, however, Tottenham does remain confident that they will be able to reach an agreement over his transfer.

The 23-year-old is one of the best defenders in the Chinese Super League and Spurs have been monitoring him for some time now.

They believe that it is time for him to make the step up to the Premier League, but they are unwilling to meet Beijing Guoan’s asking price in typical Daniel Levy style.

90mins claims that the Chinese are looking for a fee in the region of £15m. Spurs have already made two bids for his signature, but they are both no more than £10m and have been rejected.

A source close to the situation said: “Talks are ongoing, two bids have been rejected but everyone around the deal believes the situation will be concluded.”

This is typical Levy. He will walk away for the sake of £5 million, that is what he does, he did something similar over Jack Grealish and look at how that has worked out.

If we are talking a difference of £20 million then fair enough but £5 million is chicken feed these days and it will not look good if we fail to sign a player that the club wants because Levy is being Levy once again.

Re Levy , was amazed to see the level of abuse on 1 site between pro & anti ENIC fans, akin to Brexit. Track record is we never get players we are linked with & or hesitate. Also there must still be good centre backs in loeer leagues. Be shrewd & buy top quality rather than mediocre quantity. Also because of ENIC & previous owners a lot of our own supporters have no faith in the potential of the club. Which i maintain if run correctly would do a lot better

I know this is fact but cant remember if it was this player – some statto may be able to help – we were after a striker (in Germany I think) the player was ready to come Levy did his usual muckwitery and I read a quote a few years ago saying “I wouldn’t ever consider Tottenham after the way Levy treated me”
Now as I say that is fact but from memory it was Aubameyang may be wrong with the name but just think….
I not only hate Tight Purse but I detest anyone on any Spurs site that licks his harris and there are one or two.

AVB manager at the time had it on record that Porto screwed up the paperwork at midnight on deadline day preventing Moutinho from signing for us. He is still a great player for Wolves.

Levy must always test the waters to see what the “lowest” is.

David Brookes, Ryan Sess and Grealish are the ones I recall, there are more no doubt. Someone who knows what they are doing to find these players would be invaluable for this club, because there are players out there who are worth looking at.

With value’s dropping its a buyers market,Levy is testing the waters to see what’s the lowest they will except, this site has named us as being linked to over 20 centre backs,so if he doesn’t get a deal for this guy, there’s plenty of other clubs needing to sell.Of all the ones we have supposedly been linked with this guy has no experience playing in Europe and will be a huge gamble.

If KMJ is available for £15M lets get him in, Big, strong, quick, and if he has the same work ethic as Son then great. Willan would be a good addition and would give us a high quality front 3, I think Jose needs to persevere with Sess and Foyth over the break and see if they can become the full backs we all hope. I expect Aurier, Jan, Vorm, NDomele (no point keeping him on the bench, if we can get him to knuckle down even better) Rose, KWP and probably Lamela,to leave. In would come KMJ, Milosavic-Savic, Willan, we would have a decent squad next season go for some silverware, if Arse can get to a cup final, so should we.

The list of players that Levy underbid for, then walked away, only to see them rise substantially in value and improve as players has been well documented on this site many times before. As he knows nothing about football which continues to be demonstrated, and as he has admitted, does not even like the sport, isn’t it time that we had someone in charge of recruitment who is remotely capable of making the right decisions?

If we had bought Grealish we’d have a young English player who will probably become an international and is easily worth £50 million maybe more if he keeps improving. I wouldn’t call that tough negotiation, just plain useless.

Take ur point but to be fair this guy has no form outside the Chinese league. The lower the price the better he could be a flop in the league or fail to settle.

Levy will argue, correctly, that no one else is interested.
