Club officials meet 27-year-old’s father to discuss transfer – Postecoglou wants him at the club

According to Mundo Deportivo, La Liga side Real Sociedad have now joined the race to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

A number of clubs are interested in signing the Argentine this summer. Italian champions Napoli are one of them with previous reports claiming that the Serie A giants have made him their ‘priority signing’.

Aston Villa are another club interested in him, with a previous report from Estadio Deportivo claiming that the former Villarreal manager Unai Emery is keen on signing the Tottenham midfielder. It added the club is ‘very interested’ in signing him before the transfer window shuts.

Barcelona are another club who have been linked with a move for the Argentine all summer, with manager Xavi Hernandez reportedly a huge fan of the player and sees him as an ideal replacement for Sergio Busquets.

And now La Liga side Real Sociedad have reportedly registered their interest in signing him as well.

The report from Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) is titled ‘La Real asked about Lo Celso’, claims that the Spanish side have shifted their focus on the Tottenham man after failing to agree a deal with Manchester United for Donny van de Beek.

The report adds that officials from the Spanish side have already had a meeting with Lo Celso’s father in Valencia, who is also part of his entourage.

Lo Celso has struggled to secure a regular place in the Tottenham squad in recent years and has spent a significant amount of time on loan at Villarreal recently where has impressed.

It was previously reported by journalist Matt Law that the player has his heart set on leaving this summer.

However, his pre-season performances under new manager Ange Postecoglou seems to have turned his fortunes around.

And as per recent reports, the Australian manager wants him at the club and  is trying to convince the player to stay at the club as he “fit into his plans”.
