Tottenham signed Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer last summer.
The 34-year-old Croatian winger made quite an impression in the Premier League but he is expected to leave this summer.
According to Turkish outlet Takvim, the winger could be headed to Fenerbahce. The Turkish outfit have contacted the player’s representatives and they have ‘started negotiations’. They will need to agree on a deal with Spurs as well.
Former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte was crucial to the Croatian’s arrival at the north London club and he has been sacked by the Premier League club months ago.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Perisic decided to leave the club this summer despite having a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2024.
The 34-year-old picked up 12 assists and a goal across all competitions last year and his departure will certainly weaken Spurs as a squad. The Croatian international is capable of operating as a winger as well as a wingback.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can replace him adequately this summer.
Spurs already need to bring in reinforcements all across the pitch and replacing an experienced performer like Perisic will only add to the difficulty.
The player was recently linked with a move back to Inter Milan. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Despite being 34, he has shown that he is capable of performing at a high level. He could be a useful acquisition for Fenerbahce if they manage to pull it off.
