Clinton Morrison says the defending he saw from Tottenham Hotspur in their heavy defeat to Liverpool ‘made him upset’.
The Lilywhites were crushed 6-3 at home by the Premier League leaders on Sunday and even found themselves 5-1 down by the 61st minute.
“They hurt” – James Maddison fires message to Spurs supporters!
Spurs deserve some credit for scoring two more goals and almost dragging themselves back into the game. However, even then, they conceded again in the 85th minute, with Luis Diaz netting his second of the match.
Tottenham have now won just three of their last 11 matches across all competitions and sit 11th in the Premier League, seven points adrift of the Champions League places.
Clinton Morrison ‘upset’ by Spurs defending vs Liverpool
Morrison was exasperated by what he saw from Tottenham against a rampant Liverpool side, also stunned by a divided fanbase — many of whom were still singing Ange Postecoglou’s name.
“Spurs are the most entertaining team in the Premier League — at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium you are guaranteed goals,” Morrison told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Spurs fans want attractive football, but they are not even in the top 10. I get there have been injuries to the spine of the team, and they have lost Rodrigo Bentancur to suspension, but everyone has injuries. The big gaps Spurs allowed Liverpool, it made me upset. They are so frustrating.
“Even with your best XI you can’t go toe to toe with Liverpool. But he [Ange Postecoglou] is not going to change, he’s not going to keep the media onside – and the majority of fans were still singing his name on Sunday.”
Up next for Spurs is a trip to high-flying Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day before they host struggling Wolves.
