Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a serious contender to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is considered one of the talented young players at the London club.
Gallagher had an impressive loan spell at Crystal Palace during the 2021/2022 season, where he scored eight goals and provided five assists in 39 appearances.
And this past season, he was one of the few players who performed well in what otherwise was a poor campaign for Chelsea.
Following his successful loan spell, Gallagher’s future at Chelsea has become uncertain as the club plans its rebuild under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
According to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian, Gallagher is ‘being pursued’ by Tottenham.
The report says that ‘there are doubts’ over his future at Chelsea and that Tottenham ‘have held talks over a move’ for him with the Blues already.
Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham’s manager, is reportedly attracted to Gallagher’s energy and goal-scoring threat, as he aims to build a team that plays free-flowing attacking football next season.
West Ham are also mentioned as another club pursuing Gallagher, as they look to strengthen their squad after the departure of midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal.
The sale of Rice has provided significant funds for West Ham, which manager David Moyes intends to utilise to bolster the team.
Gallagher may be open to a move away from Chelsea in search of regular playing time.
With the interest from Tottenham and other clubs, the midfielder could have options to continue his development and make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
