Captain Kirk Congratulates Spurs On The Win|image

By The Boy -

As if beating Manchester United at Old Trafford by a margin of 5 goals wasn’t surreal enough, film and TV legend William Shatner took to social media last night to congratulate the club on the remarkable victory.

I have no idea if TJ Hooker is a Spurs fan or not, perhaps the veteran star just doesn’t care for United?! Spurs have beaten United before, but never in such an emphatic and unforgiving manner. It was bound to bring out some unusual reactions.

This one goes straight in at #1.

Yeah, I think the gladiatorial element has been diminished without the crowds. Psychologically I think it’s having quite a big impact, but it’s either this or no football at all…

I think it makes it a little easier to not chase that lost cause, and to not give the little extra. For defenders, I think their bite has been dulled a bit. Either way, will make for a very interesting season.

The whole Covid thing has really thrown the form book out the window. My theory is that with full stadiums there is a more intense atmosphere and a slightly different pressure on the players.

For me it favors the attacking players more than defenders somehow. Finishing in front of 50,000 people is more stressful than when it’s more like training.

A bit early to say and perhaps the analysis hasn’t been done but I feel it’s affecting results a bit.

No he won’t, he’ll want him out unless he changes course. That’s why Pock kicked out all the older complacent players when he came to us. Within six months we were clicking…

I feel Utd fans will start to realize they have to build a new mentality at the club with a youngish manager with some fresh ideas. Poch and his staff will do fine so long as they’re allowed to do their thing. However, a player like Pogba will not fit all with it.

Utd actually have a lot of good younger players for Poch to get stuck into, clear a few of the overpaid layabouts and add a few more eager youngsters and it will turn around within about a season under Pochettino. Same as he did with us, only with a bigger budget than Levy ever gave him…

They’ve tried everything else, big name managers with big name players, a respected ex player.

Get Poch’s and add some younger talent and get the Pogba types out. He’d get them back to some kind of structured vision, at the very least.

Today just gets better. Arsenal have fired Gunnersaurus (boom, boom) as a cost cutting measure. I hate to think what they were paying him a year then. I guess they can give the gig to Ozil so at least he’s doing something to earn his salary. I wonder if Levy has secretly packed Chirpy off to Chick King?

I don’t think Mauricio is the solution to their problems – they run deeper than the manager. Their main one is being stuck in their past glory days and not realizing that the game has evolved. Poch is a great coach but a bit clueless as a manager. Will Utd’s fans be willing to be patient with him or do they want instant results? Probably the latter, in which case Poch won’t deliver.

Ah, what a day. My wedding anniversary and waking up to Spurs handing out a 6 – 1 thrashing to Utd (a pummeling that’s been long overdue and well deserved). Bloody typical though on the day we hand out the hiding of hidings, that Liverpool have to rain on our parade. Many pundits seem to be focusing on how bad Utd were, rather than crediting Spurs for being so good. ESPN was like someone had dumped an overfull dirty nappy in the studio (Harry, was that you?). They spent 20 minutes talking about Utd and then decided they’d better talk about Spurs for 5 minutes. Tossers.

Maybe the era of solving all your problems by reaching for the cheque book is at it’s limit.
Bayern showing you can compete against the the petroleum companies by being a bit more nimble.

City and United and PSG for all their billions are not dominating outside their home Leagues and beginning to have trouble at home.

Utd have massive global presence, every other American you ask about English football have heard of Utd and nobody else usually. Them getting done 1-6 is big news.

Ole is toast…

With the boy Bale’s return to the Tottenham universe, and Tanguy’s transportation back to form, things look much more possible.

Let’s not forget how truly atrocious Utd were though… Poch in I reckon. Gotta get shot of Pogba, the guy is a poison, a lazy poison… good luck with that one Mauricio!

Sessy out to Germany…so we have a few hours to bring in a centre half for possibly teh best window we have had in 20yrs
I have been skeptical of Jose, but we could well look like a real team this season. With the closed stadiums seeming to make any game up for grabs, who knows what we could do this year.

Marina Sirtis, who starred in ‘Star Trek – The Next Generation’ – is a huge Spurs’ fan. She’s of Cypriot background and grew up in North London – Maybe she turned Captain Kirk onto the mighty Spurs?

He’s Canadian, I think Danny Blanchflower and other Spurs players played in a fledgling League in Canada in the early sixties and Spurs were the dominant team of that era, so maybe that’s how he knew about them.
