“Can he stay in Azerbaijan” These Spurs fans remain unimpressed with flop despite decent performance for his country

By Bruce Grove -

Matt Doherty has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and some of the club’s fans think he is irredeemably bad now.

The Republic of Ireland full-back is facing competition from the likes of Emerson Royal and Japhet Tanganga for a place in the Tottenham team and has lost the battle.

He was in fine form in their latest international game against Azerbaijan and he played the full 90 minutes in a 3-0 away win for them.

Spurs celebrated his participation in the game on their Twitter account and their fans made their opinion of him clear.

Another fan said he had completely forgotten that the full-back played for the club. Here are the best reactions:

Another of Levy’s specials. He should stick to bean counting.

It must have been the Meister scout Hitchens. How is he still at the club, and what purpose does he and Paratici serve jumping up and down on the bench?

What a massive waste of money, another massive mistake by Levy that goes unspoken.

The Irish Independent report said Doherty had a decent game going forward but his passing was poor. You wonder who scouted him for Spurs.
