Brutal Tottenham player ratings v Everton – tempers have not cooled

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham fans were desperate for the team to get off to a winning start and build momentum, even against an accomplished team like Everton, however, it was not to be after yet another woeful performance from the team.

It is one thing to lose a game, it is a whole other sorry state of affairs to be schooled on your own ground by what is supposed to be an inferior team.

There was so much wrong with the performance and it starts with the players and their application, passion, determination and attitude.

Tottenham player ratings

Hugo Lloris – 6 – Cannot fault for the goal and did ok though Richarlison did go around him with ease early on.

Matt Doherty – 5 – Average game, did bits in spurts and should have scored, will come on for this game.

Toby Alderweireld – 4 – Where was he when Calvert Lewin got in to score? slow and pedestrian throughout.

Eric Dier – 4 – As culpable as Toby for Everton’s goal and was rank poor all day.

Ben Davies – 4 – Questions have to be asked if he is really Premier League quality, the man cannot cross a ball, gives the ball away too often and is awful at passing.

Harry Winks – 4 – Mr negativity was in his element playing alongside Hojbjerg, not a partnership made in heaven.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 5 – One can only hope his passing improves but he did get stuck in so I suppose that is something positive.

Lucas Moura – 4 – He can do so much better but the Everton defence took him, pocketed him and never let him out, far too easy to mark and control.

Dele Alli – 3 – Absolutely woeful, no first touch, no vision, no creativity and just too inconsistent.

Son Heung-Min – 6 – Probably the best player alongside Lloris and he at least tried to get something going but was not at his sharpest.

Harry Kane – 4 – Hard to mark him because he gets zero service. Not sure how long he will take that.

Subs

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – Average when he came on, he did try but was dragged all over the place by Mourinho

Steven Bergwijn – 4 – Offered nothing when he entered the game

Tanguy Ndombele – 5 – Like Sissoko, he did try to make a difference but ended up being average.

Dier and Toby wouldn’t get into any other premier league team. Tanganga if fit and Sanchez must start.

Why does Lloris get a 6 – cross comes in blue head on it do effing something dont stand rooted to the spot
Davies – I used to like him but that back pass was Aurieresque mark him down
Hojbjerg – as poor as the rest but the nobs dont like him give him a 0
Dier – effing Dire JoMo may like him but noone else does mark him down
Toby – poor mate mark him down
Winks – sideways back repeat – down with Hojbjerg 0

Mourinho – we were beasted in m/f you deserve a +1 for looking good

“did bits in spurts and should have scored, will come on for this game.”

“But when you compare them to Everton’s new signings, Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, then you can see which direction the Toffees are going in, and it is completely the opposite one to Spurs.

Neither Toby nor Dier seemed to get off the ground for the Everton goal, maybe try jumping next time, it might help. Players I’d like to see gone nevermind how charming and hardworking they are, Davies, Lamela, Sissoko, Moura. Aurier going is a given of course.

I’d go with a 5 out of 10 for the first half for the whole gang except maybe Alli and Davies on 3s.

Everyone gets a 1 out of 10 for that second half, sorry that was woeful.

Lloris is exempt from my abuse.

I’d add jose as a 2 to that lot. Based on admitting the preseason work wasn’t up to standard. In his defence I’d say he’d have been better saying we had a good present season, but when you have a tired, desperately in need of quality refreshments squad this is what your likely to suffer
