It’s a curious business this cracking the Premier League top-four business. When you’re a side that isn’t really fit for purpose, that’s just making up the numbers, not a genuine threat, everybody pats you on the head. Come the day you start to actually deliver on the endless threats of being a winner – suddenly a list of hitherto invisible rules and protocols are wheeled out in an attempt to keep you in your place.
So far, we’ve heard from Martin Keown, Arse Blogger and Tony Adams, all of whom came out to critique their side for their faults. Not a one took a swipe at Spurs. Keown called Tottenham ‘streetwise’.
Jamie Redknapp (whose wife left him) who once even played for Tottenham described us as effective, but not an enjoyable watch, and Jamie isn’t alone. Graeme Souness also felt short-changed after watching Spurs…
On this week’s #KeepItTottenham podcast we examine this curious situation, even venturing as far as to ask if defending can be sexy?
funnily enough that was basically the same question the great ,late brian clough asked of don revie
I wonder do Lampard, Terry and Drogba look at their medals and think ‘ I just wish we could have them in a different manner’
now if only someone could train lloris how to score regularly direct from goal kicks,we could then dispense with kane and son (thatll bring a few quid in)and with the proceeds buy an extra 4-5 defenders to shore up the defence lol….my own opinion is that theres no conspiracy against spurs from media pundits etc.as is being suggested..its basically just fair comment and opinions..after all were only 11 games into the season anyway and before we go overboard about titles remember arsenal arent exactly juventus,..as for “can defence be sexy?” not sure about sexy, but it can be cultured defending, but cultured defending is dependent on cultured defenders ,not on sheer numbers alone..my question is ..what does the panel think about how long son and kane will be happy playing as mainly defensive midfielders? wouldnt be first time players have asked to leave clubs because of how they are being asked to play. i suppose i can accept this kind of play for now..in the hope of better things later..one can live in hope…but if we set out with a 9 man defence against our 3rd round opponents marine f,c..then i think ill take a season or two off and follow womens soccer instead…the soccer might not be much ,but the view will be better..
I see Arsewobble day has come and gone again with the same result.
Cheers!
Nice one Harry, enjoyed the latest podcast – exciting times at Spurs
