Betting suspended on Gareth Bale to Tottenham after Real Madrid boss drops Welsh ace

By Rob S -

A bookmaker has stopped taking bets on Gareth Bale returning to Tottenham Hotspur this month.

Online sportsbook 888 tried to cause a scene on Twitter by shouting the news that they had suspended betting on Bale to Spurs.

The rationale for their suspension was that Bale had been left out of Real Madrid’s squad for their upcoming game against Atletico Madrid.

Despite the move by 888, it would still present a huge shock if Bale were to re-sign for Spurs tonight.

Jose Mourinho even admitted this afternoon – when he interviewed himself at a press conference – that he was not expecting any more January arrivals.

Bale has had a mixed time in Madrid since his record-breaking transfer in 2013.

The 30-year-old has won four Champions Leagues, playing a key role in more than one of those triumphs.

But his face just doesn’t seem to suit Zinedine Zidane. And he has been booed by Real fans on multiple occasions.

Bale scored 21 Premier League goals in his final season for Spurs. And he would arguably still be among the top 10 players in the division if he were to return. But finance, fitness and feasibility suggest this is a no-go.

What is it with Bales agents statement that these rumours are cr*p that the media do not understand. The PR department at the property development company must be in overdrive trying to spin any visit that Levy might make to Madrid to deflect from its real reason and that is setting up a summer deal with them for Kane. A £10 million budget for a striker to help lift the club into the CL is obscene it is so embarrassing.

Did it escape anyone’s notice that Eriksen played for Milan almost immediately his transfer went through ? Under Poch it would have been months of cameo appearances. I wonder if Jose will be as bold and play any of our new signings on Sunday

There’s always a ‘near miss’. Except it was more like a “never even seriously considered”.

Fully expecting Matt Law plus The Athletic team to run a story this weekend on how close Levy got to re-signing Bale this window…*yawn*
Would imagine this is now a standard mail-merge type template for Journos to simply click the merge button on >Insert World Class Footballer Name Here<. Copies saved as Levy_Rivaldo.doc, Levy_Moutinho.doc, Levy_BFernandes.doc...etc etc

It’s the same old story gazza just different characters. Once it was damiao, now bale. Serves a purpose. Stsrt if window to get people excited. Bring it up midway thu then at the ned of another underwhelming window drag it out again to give the masses hope. All people have to do is look back over history mate, it always repeats in life. And as for people laughing at wet spam and them lot down the road, I’d suggest we look at the issues we have before anything

It’s all fake news from Enic’s acolytes in the press. Bale is on €600,000 a week. He will be happy to see out his contract and improve his gold handicap. We were linked with Koulibaly at the start of the window which was more fake news. You cannot believe a word that comes out of the club.

For those who ain’t too clued up what happens is Daniel sends his operators into a few of the same bookies around town. Say a dozen. He gets them all putting a few hundred on bale and the bookie has to adjust accordingly. Its a far cheaper option than doing the right thing by the football club. On the plus side we are linked with a keeper from Southend who was released in the summer….. That’s just plain embarrassing.

Goals going to have to come from all over then, Levy rolls the dice again. Gambling he can get Champions League without a striker. I wouldn’t bet against him, things seem to work out for him, call it luck if you like. Saving the money for the right man in the summer rather than a panic buy that flops. It’s risky but to paraphrase Napoleon, Levy is a lucky general.

Are we clutching at straws with this one? His agent made it clear there is no chance.

It’s 4/1 on Paddy Power. I’m sure they’ll come up with their own marketing trick
