Dimitar Berbatov has revealed that he was close to leaving Tottenham for Manchester United a year before actually making the move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Bulgarian recalled how there was interest from United at the end of his first year at Spurs, in which he bagged 23 goals.
Unlike at the end of his second season with us, when he refused to play to force our hand in negotiations with the Red Devils, which he also discusses in the same interview, Berba got his head down and another 23 goals in 2007-08 convinced Sir Alex Ferguson to follow through on his admiration.
