Belgian champions make transfer offer for experienced Tottenham man

By Bruce Grove -

Toby Alderweireld has emerged as a transfer target for Club Brugge this season.

The defender signed a contract extension at Spurs in 2019 until 2023 and has been used regularly by Jose Mourinho in this campaign.

He missed the club’s match against Newcastle United yesterday and a report from Voetbal 24, is now claiming that Spurs have received an offer for his signature.

Although he was given a new deal two years ago, Spurs are always open to selling players who have clocked 30 and above.

The club is battling for a top-four finish now and regardless of the position that they finish the campaign, they are expected to make new signings in the summer.

If younger and more impressive defenders join the team, Alderweireld will likely be one of the first team players that will leave the club.

The report says Spurs are planning on improving their current options in the summer and could bring in Marcel Sabitzer or Jannik Vestergaard.

For now, the Lilywhites will need Alderweireld to be in his best form for the remainder of this season.

Their 2-2 draw against Newcastle United is a setback, but they can make things better by beating Manchester United on Sunday.

Could this be the reason toby was maybe late back to Spurs after playing for Belgium. He stopped over in Antwerp to talk to their reps.So nothing to do with covid.

how is it we haven’t managed the downward drop off of 3 Belgium players now esp as they have been key for us. No replacements lined up for smooth transition

We need right and left footed CLASS centre backs, a CLASS right back, a striker than can contribute to the game unlike Vinicius, I’d like someone to tell me what he actually does?

If that’s the policy then Sissoko should be gone soon I hope.

Younger and more impressive from the Levy Poundland Store. Good luck with that one. I can see us losing Kane, Son, Toby and I am unsure about Ndombele’s commitment to the cause as well. Next season looks fun.
